View Full Version : City centre parking
Hi,
I recently moved into Leopold Square development and I'm fishing for some parking options.
I don't expect anything for free but car park behind City Hall is charging £15 24/7 7 days a week. A bit pricey I think.
Is there somewhere offering parking permit? And how much would that be?
I don't mind walking a bit as well as long as the car is safe. I work on West Bar so I could even leave the car parked most of the day.
And just to prevent any heated discussion - I run my own business so yeah, I need a car very much. And I need it to be in walking distance from where I live as I often need to be quite flexible.
Hope this makes sense.
Any advice would be appreciated
birdsandbees 26-01-2008, 14:00 Have you thought about a NCP season ticket, you will have to call 0845 050 7080 for the prices, but it is in a safe area and I think you can use any NCP with it so handy if you travel for work.
sacred heart 26-01-2008, 14:00 city center parking, hope this helps you a little.

pegmosaic 26-01-2008, 14:01 In rented property parking is usally at least £50 PCM. Best off trying to fins someone with a flat that does not use there space, and them renting it to you on the side!
Dizzyblonde 26-01-2008, 15:55 Agree with the above or move to a flat with a car parking space.
Surely this is something you should have thought about before moving... not having a go, just if its something thats so important it should have factored in when choosing somewhere to live and not be an afterthought when you have already moved in.
Thanks everyone. I'll give NCP a ring on Monday.
Susie, trust me that I thought about it before moving but quality of living is far more important to me than parking. I never suggested that parking is soooo important. That's why I refused Wards Brewery flat with parking for example (same size £150 pm more expensive). I'm perfectly happy to leave my car on my office carpark but I wanted to know if there is something else I missed. And to be honest your post isn't answering my question not even tiny little bit so why bother?

Did your post have a point other than to try and wind the OP up?

No I wasnt trying to wind the OP up I was genuinely wondering why the issue of parking hadnt been thought of prior to moving in, the OP has cleared that reason up now, it wasnt mentioned in the original post and its just something that if I were moving I would think about in my plans to move.
If you work near west bar there are a few contract parking spaces on Scotland Street and around. About £40 a month - if you can get one. On street parking on Scotland St for 10 hours is (or used to be) about a fiver. Also The Setts opposite Fagans is about a fiver.
Classic Rock 26-01-2008, 23:36 If you get an LPG vehicle then you can get a parking pass from Parking Services at the Council which lets you park for free in any city centre council parking space for the max period allowed. I have one and it has saved me a fortune.
Dizzyblonde 27-01-2008, 06:18 Interesting classic rock, where do you get LPG from?
Raiders42 27-01-2008, 10:41 one option could be www.whizzgo.co.uk
they do corporate and residential rates, you might save a fortune.

If it's a diesel car, you can also use bio-diesel for free parking. Only problem, where can you get bio-diesel on that side of town?
