We have only had him 5 months we didnt get any paper work about his injections. shullie 28-01-2008, 11:55 you will need to talk to the vet,and/or who ever you got him off... I think he may need to be given a set of booster injections... over a 2 week period - but I think you can do that nearer the time (i.e just before Nov) Adz 28-01-2008, 11:56 In order to kennel a dog you need to show evidence of vaccinations. This is to protect all the dogs that are boarding at that time and prevent the spread of disease. When a dog is vaccinated it is documented on a vaccination/treatment card and evidences when the vacc's were given and which ones. This is what you need to obtain. Alot of people selling dogs will say they are vaccinated but you have no proof unless you have been given the evidence/vacc card for that dog. If you have not been given proof there is a good chance the dog you have is not vaccinated and you have been lied to. I suggest you contact the person whom you got the dog from and ask for the evidence. If they cannot provide you with any you will need to make an appointment at a vet for having your dog vaccinated. Adz 28-01-2008, 12:00 Boosters can be given all at the same time as long as they are the same brand the only time they are split is when the brands are split and they have not been tested on each other for reactions. Boosters need to be given yearly at the time when the dog was first vaccinated this is so they remain protected. IF kennelling also consider a vaccination for Kennel cough this is not generally done as standard when having boosters. It is a vaccine that goes up the dogs nose many people don't realise this and think there dog is covered when they have their annual booster injetion but it isn't. katkin 28-01-2008, 13:50 If there's no evidence he's ever been vaccinated (other than the word of the person you bought him off and that's just not good enough if you're planning on placing him in kennels because no respectable business will risk putting an un-vacc'd dog in it's premises), he'll have to start his primary vaccs again, won't he? That's usually how it works with cats- boosters merely supplement/continue the protection. He'll def need the kennel cough vaccine too and that has to be given a few weeks before he goes into kennels to give it time to work. vibealite198 28-01-2008, 16:12 We got him off hunnii. I think i will get him booked in for boosters just to be on the safe side. |
