southernbell 20-02-2005, 20:05 hi i am very new to area , just come up from down south. fingers crossed, i get the job i'm after, i'll be looking to rent a place in sheffield. can anyone suggest anywhere good and fairly safe to live, thats not morethan 20 mins from M1? many thanks.
The areas around Crystal Peaks are handy for the M1.

southernbell 20-02-2005, 20:17 thankyou Strix, was getting lost going through previous posts on here!!! a good train network would be useful, and fairly close to city centre as i do like to go out.
Woodhouse it is then! Trains every hour daytime, every half hour peak. They run direct to Sheffield (10mins), Meadowhall (20mins) and Doncaster.
Steer clear of the Badger Estate though
Vebra.com is the host site for the two big Sheffield estate agents - Blundells and Haybrooks - the area is S13
southernbell 20-02-2005, 20:25 thankyou Strix, may i trouble you one more time? any ideas of rental costs for a two bed house or apartment, roughly?

No, coz we bought, but I saw a to let sign outside something that may be suitable, whilst walking the dog. I'll see what I can do.
You'll need to post another twice though, to reply when I PM you ;)
WallBuilder 21-02-2005, 00:25 There are loads of nice places to live in Sheffield and there seems to be more and more property for rent. My personal favorite would be Woodseats, it's on the south side of the city and has a very good bus service [several in fact] that will take you into the city. Go the other way by car and it is a fast road to the M 1 at Chesterfield. Woodseats has a good shopping area and a lot of people who live in the area seem to of lived there all their lives which must say something about the area. Ten minute bus ride outside peak times to get to the main railway staion in the city centre. Lots of countryside not far away and the Peak District is about 15 minutes drive aaway.
Are you going north or south when you get ot the M1, SB?
Is it for commuting or just occasional travel?
southernbell 23-02-2005, 17:38 hi there, thanks for the help everybody- so much choice!!! not sure how to go about p.m. Strix as you probably guessed a little bit new to this!!! when in sheffield i'll be travelling south mainly to chesterfield area or all the way down to the solent.(south coast) why, is that important then?
southernbell 23-02-2005, 17:51 hi Strix for get the question about p.m. i think i've got it now!!!!
The M1 curves right round Sheffield, so if you're commuting to Leeds you will want to live near J35ish, but if you're commuting to Chesterfield you'd want to be near J30ish.
If it's occasional M1 travel, but commuting into Sheffield, it won't matter so much.
On the left hand side of your screen is a menu. PM inbox takes you to an e-mail style set-up. You can read your PMs there. To PM somebody it's usually easier to prod the 'PM' button at the bottom of their post, or hit 'reply' when you've read a PM from them
I've not been past that house again yet. I should do this evening.
