I'm thinking of trying to get on the above mentioned course, but does anyone know if any of the Sheffield College sites are doing it?

Preferably somewhere local to Hillsborough as Norton et al are a pain in the arse to get to via bus from here in Stannington.

I just found out my brother teaches it but that is at Birley school, not much use to you :(.

I'll ask him if there are other places ;)

[EDIT]

He teaches at Firth Park and Birley. He also says there are loads of places that do it and LearnDirect should have a full list.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Vidster.

I'll have a look on Learn Direct's web site and see what I can come up with, apparently they do Learndirect courses at Square Mile on the Morrisons complex.

Any Sheffield City Learning Centre does Learn Direct. The one at Newfield is very good.

Thanks J but Newfield's a bit out of my way really.

Again, thanks for your input

It's Not a license, it's a competancy certificate. Calling it a license is a misrepresentation. A license is something that permits you to do something where you would be contravening some regulation or law if you acted without it. viz Fishing License, TV License, Driving License, Occupation License, Dog License.

I think you'll find the ECDL is a licence as it allows people to use the qualification in any of the EC countries as it conforms to all their standards and is recognised by all parties.

You can now buy the ECDL course to do it yourself at home.

If anyone wants good computer training which is free non restrictive hours and provides a certificate of competency at the end of each course, contact Radio Sheffield who will send you details of all their computer courses.

What law am I breaking by using a computer without a license?

My experience with learndirect wasn't too good and I wouldn't suggest anyone paid good money to do any of their courses.

The course content on the courses I did was rubbish. The level of support that I recieved was poor and after submitting my papers for my certificate, they lost all of my work and I had to do everything all over again - nightmare!

I would suggets you think carefully before you choose :-)

I am doing a course at Birley and it is 30 - 40 minutes from Hillsborough at that time of night. But it is only 10 weeks and something I wanted to do.
PS I have ECDL part 2. Is that the equivalent of HGV, can I drive the fastest computers down the autobahn?:P

Go down to Square Mile Training Centre at Hillsborough Barracks and they will tell you all you need to know. I enrolled on a ECDL there for £10 and got an NUS card as well which will get you cheap bus fares, cinema etc etc:clap:
