Could anyone enlighten me on this?
Does anyone know why the space left where the old 'The Engineer's' pub at Wincobank was has had secure fences erected around it?
The fences are very secure, and wouldn't have been cheap to make or erect, but as far as I can see are just keeping would-be intruders out of a space containing nothing.
Why?
What for?
Is there something secret going on?
its supposed to be going to be an indian restaurant and takeaway but somebody is trying to get a petition up to stop it.

Thanks for that, but why would the land be cordoned off in such a secure manner when there is nothing there at the moment?
And why are people objecting to the restaurant?
Some people are just spoilsports.
Honestly!

The latest outline planning application, dated 24th January (Application No: 05/00245/OUT), for this site is for a restaurant, function room and accommodation.
I think it is too early for this to have been considered and decided upon.
On 30th July last year 2 applications were made. One for temporary (24 months) use of the site as a car sales pitch (04/03128/FUL) and the other to build 6 houses (04/03129/OUT).
The sales pitch was recommended for approval (subject to conditions) by officers but I cannot see if was approved by the Planning Board.
There is reference to the housing application being withdrawn for further changes.
If anyone is seriously concerned it is quite easy to telephone the planning department on 273 4215 and refer to the relevant application number.
