After getting a survey done, it turns out that the roof of the house we are interested in is constructed from "asbestos tiles". I'm trying to keep calm about this, but whenever I hear the A-word, I get scared!
This is an ex-council property, around 70 years old. The survey says the roof is well-maintained, but (a) has a fair bit of moss/lichen on it and (b) will probably need replacing within a few years.
I presume the tiles will be asbestos cement? Is this likely to be a problem for cleaning the moss off the roof, for general maintenance, or for eventual removal and replacement of the whole roof?
And any idea how much it would cost to remove and replace the roof (medium-sized end terrace)? Does it need a specialist roofing firm?
