My 11 month old is a holy terror to feed, she will NOT take the food from the little spoon and will do anything to avoid eating it- at least thats what we thought...

The other half gave me the bowl and spoon and after a few experiments I pretended to eat the food.
My girl was all over me like a rash and in no time had scoffed the lot. Our theory is that my kids instinctively like to nick my grub from me- theyve all done it at one time or another and its a miracle that Im such a fat git because I barely get a mouthful before one of the kids starts haunting me for the food that I seem to be enjoying. (http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i159/Doppler1/SANY00022.jpg) In fact, they seem happier nicking my food than they do eating their own.

What do YOU do to get solid food into your kids? Do you have to be sly? Or are your offspring narural born Gannets who will eat anything if it isnt fast enough to get away...?

My youngest eats anything and everything, however life isnt complete until shes shared it around and the floor, high chair, my hair ect all have to have a taste......

When my monster is in her walker and she has a banana or something, the floor looks horrible afterwards, banana all over the place. She eats about one mouthful and spreads the rest around.

My nephew likes to feed himself if he can (he's 9 months) but if it's something that has to be done with a spoon then we've found that the solution for him is to give him his own spoon.

At the moment he doesn't actually do anything useful with the spoon apart from wave it about a bit, but he won't eat off another spoon unless he's joining in too.

Since my DD was about 9 months, she would not let us feed her unless it was fromage frais. So she always got finger foods as I couldn't really be bothered with the hassle. Since about 1 she's always had her own spoon or fork, sometime she uses it, but mostly she still eats with her hands.

Our girls prefer the tactile feeding method to spoons. It would appear that cutlery is a fad just used by us parents and that Thomas The Tank Engine spaghetti is best served cold and eaten with fingers. The lip smacking tells me so.
I would be worried but if they're still shunning implements by the age of 4 I shall strap spoons onto each finger and keep them there until they give in :D
