I need an affidavit to state that I'm single in order to get married in Sri Lanka next year. Does anyone know where I start to get one of these?

Does a solicitor do everything or do I obtain a form and just sign it in front of them?

I think that you are looking for a "Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage" and I think that this can be issued by the Register Office. (now in the Town Hall)
