If you are using either Adare or Ad-watch be very careful, take a look of my other post; Major Problem is this a virus
It seems Lavasoft (program makers) have been aware of a problem for some time now and I am just its latest victim.
So back up your files now, luckily I wont be losing too many files when I reformat.
I have used Ad-Aware for the last 18 months on all my computers running Windows XP and XP-Pro. I have never had any problems at all.
Do you have the link to this info pietro?. I would like to know of any known issues too;).
Vidster,
This is just one of the many links I eventually found.

If I read the links correctly they appear to describe the problem as having been caused by Ad-Watch which I do not think is part of the Ad-Aware freeware which is commonly recommended.
Was this your situation?
I was running Adaware Pro (Adwatch comes as part of this). I've been running this on various PC's for over a year now, with no problems.
The trouble seems to have started when I downloaded the updates yesterday.
I have now removed it from the PC I am working on at the moment and undecided whether to install the free version after all the trouble over the last two days.
