Might be worth it to her, i will pass that onto her, thanks Strix 19-02-2005, 18:03 I think this is the one you need (http://catalogue.learndirect.co.uk/courses/100410IC005/) WallBuilder 19-02-2005, 18:22 There are a few places in Sheffield that do teach computer courses, some that I know of are 1. Paces community centre at High Green 2. Mount Pleasant community centre at Sharrow 3. BBC learning on Shoreham Street near town 4. There's a place at Hillsborough barracks 5. Norton college do evening classes Several of these places do the Learndirect courses which start with the basics which can be done at home but it's always nice to have some-one there to help you if you get stuck Mo 19-02-2005, 18:38 Yes, Radio Sheffield do them occasionally and I'm sure they are free. Why don't you give them a ring to see when the next ones are? poppins 20-02-2005, 19:15 Thanks, Strix, Wall & MO, all good advice, she's a senior citizen and she's dying to get a PC, i keep telling her if i can do it anyone can, thanks again Poppins WallBuilder 21-02-2005, 00:06 The centre I went to when I needed my hand held as I learnt the basics had a very wide age range of pupils. The oldest guy in the place was an incredible 84 and he overcame his initial trepidation and was soon tapping away on the keyboard as though he'd done it for months. Also if you got stuck and there wasn't a tutor immediately available then other pupils were usually only too happy to offer advice. Toby 21-02-2005, 01:01 For anything like this, call BBC Radio Sheffield on 0114 273 1177. Not only do they run specially designed courses there, but there is someone there most days who would happily help out on a one to one basis. There's lots of computers, and lots of help. All for nowt. |
