View Full Version : Snow - Current Snow Conditions - Live As It Happens Thread
bigflesh 18-02-2005, 23:24 Hi guys and gals.....
Yes apparantly it is going to happen this weekend and into next week - oh yes it is.... The change will begin on Saturday as colder arctic pushes south across the UK lowering temperatures and bringing snow showers.
bigflesh 18-02-2005, 23:25 Although there is still some uncertainty about the details, there is now a high degree of confidence that winds will veer round to the north east or east during the early part of next week bringing even colder conditions. This is the type of set-up which would bring the likelihood of substantial snowfall anywhere east of the Pennines. Accumulations of 10 cms in eastern areas are highly possible with widespread travel problems.
REPORT SNOW PROBLEMS HERE.....
As soon as a snowflake hits the ground, the country will come to a standstill anyway :suspect: .

lol lets hope it delays the "going 2 work proceedings"
WallBuilder 18-02-2005, 23:38 Stop it you sound as though you're almost gloating!!
I hate snow, I detest snow and in a nut shell I'm not very keen on it. Such a shame as I noticed only a few days ago that the daffodils were starting to shoot up, much nicer than the forthcoming snow. [I'm just hoping the weather man is going to have to apoligise for having got it wrong again]
bigflesh 18-02-2005, 23:43 i like daffys also but cconfidence is now very high for a reasonably long spell of wintry weather to affect the UK. The cold spell may well become quite severe next week with the prospect of significant snow falls for most parts of north and central eastern parts of the UK. Accumulations of 10cm highly likely.
1_HotGal 18-02-2005, 23:47 I hate snow too, and so hope the weathermen are wrong. But then again, it has been getting a bit chilly lately...even tho' we have had some bright sunny (cold) days. It's nice to see the daffs coming up, not long till proper spring!!

Who is writing this?. Is it WallBuilder or is it the cute avatar on the left of his post?.
My dog loves snow!.
1_HotGal 18-02-2005, 23:48 10cm?? That's a bit precise isn't it!!!
I love snow. Everyone goes nuts! The city comes to a halt a people start panic buying food in case they're snowed in for years. it's quality!

I'm predicting 27mm of snow for Sheffield :hihi:
1_HotGal 18-02-2005, 23:55 Tape measures at the ready then! :p
WallBuilder 19-02-2005, 01:37 Just to set the record straight, my dog Max isn't very keen on snow either! If it snows during the night when I open the back door in the morning to let him out he stands peering out at it suspiciously. There again he he may be acting in a rather odd way as he'll of heard me opening the bedroom curtains and groaning miserably, he probably thinks I'm going to take my bad mood out on him!! [Not that I ever would]
My Staffie (Tara) goes wild in the snow!. She buries her head in the snow and makes like a snow plough :). I hope we get a foot of snow so i can 'Wag' it from work and take her out in the snow. She'll clear the roads for people!
Don_Kiddick 19-02-2005, 05:29 06:30 & still no sign in Brightside.
I bought a snow shovell from JTF t'other day for about £2
B A R G A I N ! Come on you sno-ow!
Hope someone gets to tell the gritters that some snow is a possibility.

My freezer is now full of bread.
The cupboards are full of tinned stuff.
I have 12 boxes of candles ready.
The old CB radio is now set up for when the phone lines go down.
I have a doctors note for a month, in case i can't get to work.
My back garden is filled with sandbags for when it all melts.
Our lass says i am over reacting.
Just been on the Met office site and there is a severe weather warning - apparently we are going to get snow from tomorrow until Wednesday. However the rather more cautious lot at the BBC (what hurricane..?) have given a totally different forcast with nice warm weather for the next few days, sunshine, and then a smattering of snow on Wednesday!
I think it will pass us by :D but just incase I shall have the sledge on standby
bostonaire 19-02-2005, 08:45 yeyyyyyyyyyyyyy leddit snow leddit snow leddit snow.......

alchresearch 19-02-2005, 10:54 Can anyone try and take photos of any snow, perhaps put them on Photobucket? As there are no decent webcams in Sheffield, this is the time of year I miss it the most!
temperature has been around 3 degrees so far all day according to my car.

I am not happy
the main snow forecast wont realy start until late tommorow. high pressure is building over scandinavia which will eventually bring cold easterly winds. expect a snowy week next week and very cold. just had a snow shower at firth park.

Hope it doesnt snow just yet...else my first hike with sheffieldwalkingroup might get snowed off :(
muddycoffee 19-02-2005, 16:21 About 5pm we had a flurry of snow which blew through woodseats[large flakes] , but it only lasted around 10 minutes. Is around 2c outside which I would have thought was perfect temprature for snow unfortunately..
bigflesh 19-02-2005, 18:06 Saturday we have a Northerly wind heralding the start of the cold spell. High pressure to the West and low pressure to the East will pull down a stiff Northerly wind, with some rain and sleet showers to the West Coast's and wintry showers, falling as snow in the N/E of Scotland, down the East Coast. Many inland parts will have a fine day with lots of sunshine. Pretty chilly, temps 3-6'c, but feeling colder in the wind. Late afternoon, expect the odd small flurry, but nothing to worry about at this stage.......... and then into Sunday............
bigflesh 19-02-2005, 18:07 Sunday will be a colder day as the Northerly wind becomes stronger and starts to turn North-Easterly. Most Western parts will become dry as the wind turns, so most Central and Western area's will have a fine day with lots of sunshine. To the East wintry showers will turn increasingly to snow and become heavier as we go through the day, with significant falls across the extreme East of England and Scotland later in the day and by this time snow showers may start to move inland towards the London area and possibly the East Midlands by evening. Temps colder, 2-5'c at best and feeling colder than that in the wind.
bigflesh 19-02-2005, 18:09 .......Overnight Sunday through Monday see's pressure over Scandinavia really rising, tilting the wind properly in the North-East, with heavy snow showers piling into most Eastern parts of the UK and starting to move inland.
Monday sees high pressure across Scandinavia feeding in a bitterly cold Easterly wind across the UK. Expect heavy snow showers in Eastern area's from the word go, and some of these will already by feeding into central parts. Most Western area's should enjoy a fine morning with lots of sunshine, but increasingly snow showers will be pushing in to central parts from the East.
bigflesh 19-02-2005, 18:11 .......Eastern area's could see the snow showers merging into a longer spell of snow for a time, and this will head into the Midlands and central England during the afternoon. Expect heavy snow showers too, across Eastern Scotland, and even a few snow flurries getting into Western parts by evening. But definatly the worst of the snow will be Eastern Scotland, North-East England, East Anglia and Lincolnshire, along with the Midlands, Central and South-East England, where significant falls of snow are highly expected causing widespread travel distruption and significant drifting in blizzard conditions even at lower levels.

Hey! Have you any idea how many calories you have to consume per hour to maintain a figure that requires a blue badge for immobility due to size? :hihi:
brummy_tracy 19-02-2005, 19:37 Had a brief flurry at about four here in Lichfield, but I think its going to miss us. dough! was looking forward to it.
If Sheffield gets a few inches can someone post some photos, it always looks brill looking over the hills after a snow fall.
anyone seen latest radar and no if any snow heading towards sheff yet. wind still in north so need an easterly to bring in showrs.

bigflesh 20-02-2005, 12:24 Snow showers over the east coast heading south. Nothing in range of Sheffield yet. I feel that we need to wait for the easterly component in the wind which will push the showers further inland. At this rate, I'm not expecting anything in the way of snow until this evening and into the night. I am expecting a covering certianly by dawn Monday. Here's hoping!!!

lovely bright sunshine here but a coldddd wind *shiver*
ps anyone want to buy a sledge? :D
Good News!!!
For all you snow lovers out there.
Just travelled back from Thirsk this morning and I can report that the snow is falling up there.
Looks like it's been doing so all night as the area is covered with at least 6 or 7 inches.
The snow falling this morning was nice and thick, big white fluffy stuff.
Dare I suggest that it looks as though it's heading in our direction too.
It's not a proper winter without snow.
It can look good, create excitement and kids (and big kids) can go sledging.
As long as I don't get stuck at work.......
Trains normally keep running in the snow anyway..
Whilst we do not seem to have any webcams in Sheffield, don't forget the Sheffield City Council traffic cameras are linked to the internet - http://sccplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/utc/cameralocs.htm
They can be viewed 7 days a week, although I don't think they update at night.
The good old Met office state that
Severe weather is expected in the next few hours and we know they don't tell lies  See for yourselves.
http://www.meto.gov.uk/weather/europe/uk/yorkslincs.html
The weather warning issued my the Met office at 9am today reads as follows
UK ADVANCE WARNINGS OF SEVERE WEATHER
These warnings are issued when severe weather is expected to cause widespread disruption to traffic etc. over the next few days. See the guide below for more details.
Current warnings:
ADVANCE WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER
Here is an ADVANCED WARNING of Heavy Snow affecting Northern Scotland, Eastern Scotland, South West Scotland, Northern Ireland, North West England, North East England, The Midlands, Wales, South West England, Central Southern England, South East England and East Anglia AND Lincolnshire.
Issued by the Met Office at 09:11 on Sunday, 20 February 2005.
This warning for heavy snow and ice has been extended through until Friday morning to cover further likely disruption to transport as winds turn northeasterly and snow penetrates at times to many other parts of England and Wales, eastern parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Today, snow showers will continue to affect eastern coastal districts, these coming into some central areas at times today and tonight, while a more general area of rain, sleet or snow will run southwards across some western parts Sunday night into Monday. Local accumulations of 2-5cms are likely with 10-15cm in upland parts exposed to the northeasterly wind. However, the risk of major disruption due to heavy snow in SE England during Monday morning rush hour has been reduced to 30 percent.
For enquiries regarding this warning - please contact your regional Met Office.
Transmitted by the Met Office at 09:11 on Sunday 20 February
The UK will remain under a cold, northeasterly flow this coming week. Frequent sleet and snow showers are expected to affect many parts, feeding well inland to give further additional accumulations 2-5cms in a number of places, locally 10-20cm in some parts resulting in significant disruption.

bigflesh 20-02-2005, 17:24 These are flurries from dieing showers affecting the east coast and transferring inland. At the moment they appear to be going out with a wimper as they make their journey westbound. Conditions are predicted to be ripe for showers and longer periods of snow overnight and into tomorrow. Looking at the radar, theres nothing on the horizon for the area at the moment, but as shower activity os expected to pep up later on, I would not rule our a dusting by tomorrow morning. Will set us up for the thicker snow next week.
bigflesh 20-02-2005, 18:18 7pm Radar shows moderate snow shower south of the Wakefield area, heading due south. Barnsley and North East Sheffield should see the remnants of this, all be it, I would not expect any accumulations from this. Yes, we are clutching at straws for the moment.
steevie/d 20-02-2005, 18:19 :D snowing now in firth park area 7.20 pm sund:clap:
Nothing yet in Bradway but the sky is full of big black clouds and it's very cold....
bigflesh 20-02-2005, 18:30 Light snow, Dronfield
Just started in Bradway, although it's just a few light dandruffy flakes blowing about.
Looking at the black clouds it may get heavier during the night!
super_pie 20-02-2005, 18:48 Have turned the freezer to full power and pointed it out of the window to help the conditions (suggest we all do the same). Feel I need to do something.........nay anything........to help the snow.
So when it snows, do you prefer to make snow angels or snowmen?
Just asking.

I do hope so! love the stuff makes me feel about ten again.
Just a big kid at heart!
bigflesh 20-02-2005, 19:43 The white stuff seems to be currently most concentrated in a line from Newcastle to Peterborough and across to East Anglia. Plenty more showers packing into the North Sea. Wind is still mainly from the North but is currently swinging into a N Easterly so here is hoping that this will buck the trend and kick the shower activity further West before morning.

rubydazzler 20-02-2005, 20:57 BIGGY!!! i blame U for this ... snowing in Woodseats - started within the last 5 minutes .... grrrrrrr!
bigflesh 20-02-2005, 21:12 lol rubes. these showers are merely dieing as they hit us, hence thats why they do not amount to sustained snowfall. we could class them as isolated events. it seems out of these showers, none are moving further west. it seems the pennines are blocking transition further west. imagine the showers to be exhausted - literally thats what they are after depositing their loads further east of us. there is no real backbone to them. hence, nice to see, but they simply do not amount to anything.
bigflesh 20-02-2005, 21:14 we will get the easterlies tomorrow trust me, and this will lead to more in the way of sustinence. here's hoping. the person out manchester way, thanks for your kind comments, i try to be as precise as i can based on the data i have.

FairyNormal 21-02-2005, 08:33 Big proper flakes here in Hillsborough. None of that poxy 'melt as soon as it hits the ground' stuff here! Not sure if I want it to settle as I'm off work with tonsilitis (feeling pretty crap) and have to walk back up the mountain that is Hawthorne Road later to fetch my son from school. They never ever grit that road and it's a nightmare getting up and down it.
this is not a drill people!
settling in fulwood!
When I got the train to work from Dore this morning at 8am there was no snow and not that much cloud.
I am now at work in Derby and no snow here.
However I have just looked at the traffic cameras in Sheffield and it is indeed snowing.
If anyone needs links to travel news I posted them a couple of pages back.

Snowing at Lodge Moor but the cloud is too thin, the sun is getting through.
So it's still not amounting to much:( .
bigflesh your reports are great are you a meteorologist student or just a weather person wannabe?

Yeuk :( If it you must bulk buy get SPAM :D
To keep an eye on the likelyhood of snow have a look at
http://www.metoffice.com/weather/europe/uk/radar/
- it's updated every half hour. NE Yorks have had a real hammering this morning, - wind is forecast to swing to the east this afternoon which might drive some of those really hefty snow showers in this direction. So evening rush hour might turn out to be chaotic.
Traffic cameras can be viewed here http://sccplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/utc/cameralocs.htm
Here in Derby the light flurry didn't last long.
It's now sunny, blue skies and white clouds. Cold out though.. (nice and warm in my office though).

who ever heard of Spam hash ?
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 10:37 thanks modesty. just an interest of mine. the easterlies have indeed kicked in, although I am slightly surprised that these showers are not as beefy as I would have hoped. It seems that although they are now being blown further inland as anticipated, their payloads are still being exhausted out east of us. Looking at the latest radar, there is still plenty more to come, with a chance that their payloads of snow will be higher. Looking promising for this afternoon and into the evening. But we do need a sustained period of precipitation for anything to stick.
uncleheed 21-02-2005, 10:43 Just had a call from Mrs heed who is working in Leeds, and she says that they are coming down like 'Ten bob bits'!
I hope when she sets off home, she teathers the clouds to the back of the car,and fetches them down here.
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 10:49 yes uncleheed, 11.15 radar states clearly that theres a moderate to heavy shower affecting leeds. its moving westward though, so wont affect us. nearest shower to us is currently overhead humberside airport/scunthorpe area. its heavy and heading our way. should be with us within 30 minutes.
we are due a deluge any minute!

Not snowing here yet though.
Apparantly it's snowing quite heavily in Dinnington...
Missbrum 21-02-2005, 12:57 Boo-hoo it's just stopped :( sky looks like it's got plenty more tho :)
Apparently about 2cm has fallen in 10mins in Barnsley town centre......
A good covering in NED aww it looks so pretty
Anyone know what the snow (if any) is like in Dore?
Gosh, bright sunshine and blue sky here in Derby - it's like summer. Except cold.
Will keep track on here what to expect to come back to tonight though!
pretty_polly 21-02-2005, 14:10 I don't know whether it's going to snow or not! I'm just not sure. This morning I thought it might, it snow for ages in Hillsborough.....and then it stopped. Don't know what to believe.
I will believe it when I see it.
cgksheff 21-02-2005, 14:11 Just come in from a serious blizzard in Bakewell but it had reduced by Baslow and totally clear by Owler Bar
Berberis 21-02-2005, 14:33 Has anyone seen this site, its mainly for ski resorts but has a good prediction map of the UK ... and they are usually more accurate than the BBC!

We had a small flurry earlier here in Woodhouse, but the sun soon sorted that out. It's now chucking big cobs down

bigflesh 21-02-2005, 14:49 currently getting a real pasting. sky is black, snow is settleing, i'd class this as a heavy fall.

Sunshine and black clouds in Crookes :suspect:
Draggletail 21-02-2005, 15:02 Looking out towards the south west from High Storrs - that sky is looking BAD
In fact as I type, snow is falling heavily and settling:(
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 15:03 passing shower, badhairday. was a cracker though, has eased off now with a general return to blue sky. latest radar shows that shower heading towards south manchester area. in terms of the forecast, anything could happen, but expect the trend of more frequent and heavier snow showers to be more of a feature as the late afternoon/evening period progresses in to the night. now that we have a real and cold easterly to assist these showers, i'd expect cooler temperatures and plenty of convection off of a comparatively "warm" north sea. Here's 2 the 1st of many!!!

I've got these from the first time it snowed in Sheffield this winter. I think it was Nov 20 last year.

No snow pictures from 2005 yet, at least not in Sheffield, but I may get some pics worthwhile keeping over the next few days. Meanwhile - here's some pics I took in snowy Berlin last month:

Wow Andy C!!! Nice hat on that mini.
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 15:28 16.00 wx radar update, nothing of note out east just yet, although main feature is a grouping of intense snow shower activity into the North Sea. seem to be building and developing, heading our way. in terms of timescales, i envisage ROUND 2 to be between 5.30 and 6.30pm. for the timebeing, blue skies and scooting cumulus east to west before the next onslaught.
uncleheed 21-02-2005, 15:39 Which radar doyou look at bigflesh?
I know your updates are informative and much anticapated, but I would like to have a shufty myself.
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 16:06 uncle,
www.avbrief.com - oh, it costs about £25 per year. you could always try http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/ukukradf.htm, i think this is £19.90 per year. Both sites are updated every 15 minutes. Great to track snow or indeed those summer storms. the latter offer a 14 day free trial.
this too is a good site: http://www.btinternet.com/~wokingham.weather/wwp2.html - updated daily at about 2pm (its free btw) shows detailed satellite imagery of europe including the UK.
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 16:10 I will try posting this link - it may not work, but if it does, its the latest wx radar from avbrief.
http://www.avbrief.com/newcharts//20050221RDUK97V1630_lradar_0.gif
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 16:10 no it didnt work, but worth a shot, lol.

Is it snowing in sheffield? Im in prague and it's distinctly white and cold here. Am i coming home to snow?
you should be ok Lucky, there is nothing more than a few flakes....but that could change at any time, message timed at 18:13
I have this feeling that the Met Office are in the business of scaring everyone half to death with doom laden weather forecasts. That way they don't get it in the neck if it does happen.
So is the city centre clear then?
We haven't got the problem we had when this happened last year, have we? (Frozen wet stuff causing all hilly junctions to become impassible)

Pretty quiet in the city if you follow some of these webcams posted by Andy C
http://sccplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/utc/cam04.htm
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 17:28 Strix, naaaah, I would class what we have seen thus far as minimal distruption, if indeed any at all. Could be an interesting night though and into tomorrow as the worst is still yet to come.
I hope so.. I want to play in the snow with my excitable toddler hes allready got his wellies at the ready..will he be able to use them tomorrow do you think bigflesh?
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 17:45 honey, this is testing as i dont want to let your littleone down. for his sake, lets veer on the side of caution and expect just a dusting tonight with a hard frost. i would simply love to say minimum 2 inches, or even 9, but that would not be fair as forecasting can be hot and miss, especially in more showery conditions such as this..... the showers can cause caos in 1 area and none in another - very hit and miss. heres hoping he gets to play in snow tomorrow, albeit a peppering only - anything else is a bonus 4 him (and u!).
News Flash: BBC are forcasting "HIgh Risk of travel disruption" due to snow for tonight and tomorow....perhaps i wont have to go to work.....
Its started to snow again here in Deepcar - and it looks to be sticking this time!!!
Well I've been disapointed so far - the way they spoke on the news I expected to have to come home from work on a dog sled!
No snow at Bradway so far, although it's very cold, and there is an icy wind.
To be fair though the forecast was for snow not to hit our area until Tuesday at the earliest.
Maybe I will wake up to the white stuff tomorrow.....
courtneychar 21-02-2005, 18:07 i cant wate for it me i love snow
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 18:36 as per radar latest, next snow shower to hit sheffield betwwen 8 - 8.30pm, will be a moderate fall and is currently between doncaster and rotherham, tracking westbound towards sheffield.
craigmason 21-02-2005, 18:45 when are we going to get a good covering as i want to go sledgeing and build a snowperson
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 18:49 difficult to predict craig. these showers are so sporadic, they can show up anywhere. what we need is a sustained snow event to see a decent cover. with the sparodicity of the current set up the chances are low of this happening. lets see what tonght and into tomorrow hold. we also need more payload. there is a chance we could see more in the way of snow as warm air pushes in from the west later this week (the cold/warm air battle) which would lead to widespread continual snow, although confidence at this stage is low.
anyone know of the kind of disruption we will be facing as we fly back into eastmidlands airport tommorow evening!!!!
again, its hard to say.
i think its fair enough to say everyone will see snow of some kind, further than that its very hit and miss.
i think before weds u should be fine.
(dont quote me on that)
oh and its snowing again. will do on and off all night i reckon. so without mr sunshine popping his head out, expect to wake up to a covering of snow!
Or a huge sheet of ice as its that cold :shakes:
Draggletail 21-02-2005, 19:17 Snowing in Greystones/High Storrs. Sky is full of it. Looks like the business this time.
Slithering down to the pub tonight:hihi:
brummy_tracy 21-02-2005, 19:25 Birmingham had a blizzard for half an hour at 5.00 but most of it has gone now.
Would be really nice to wake up to it in the morning, would be a great present.
Well its white over here - time to get the gas guzzling 4x4 out :D
Lodge Moor has got a base layer at last, is their further dumps expected through the night?
bigflesh 21-02-2005, 19:38 Modesty, there certainly are...... expect the early hours to produce some more showers.
White over here - Shoreham St
WANT MORE!!!
uncleheed 21-02-2005, 19:41 Shiregreen finally covered. The half an hour of this and the roads will be closed
It snowed for about 10mins at 8pm in Deepcar again...its freezing out there now...i REALLY want more snow!!

bigflesh 21-02-2005, 20:10 Hmmmm, these showers are skirting north and central sheffield. Not much desposited further south. plenty more in the north sea with our name on them. the deposits will stick as temperatures (air & ground) are sub 0. its only a mattert of time for them to transfer this way. the next big batch will be with us from 12.00 onwards transferring east to west.
Well, might have to wheel out the travel desk, so here is the first summary....

Andy, that probably wins the daily award for the Most Usefully Useless Post
:D
Got 7 inches of snow in my part of connecticut this morning, looks nice when you don't have to go out to work early morning, it's a bit of a hoiliday here today, presidents day, no mail no school but everything else is open.
I notice every time it snows here in Connecticut, UK gets it about a week later, so I better warn you it snowed like a bitch today!! When I lived in Montreal it snowed every day for the winter, and no excuses for not getting to work on time. So I was amused down here when they closed the schools for two inches of snow. Like it never snows in New England . Gimme a break!
Tis snoding again in Deepcar.....seems to stop and start...

If it snows properly tomorrow and travel disruption does occur there will be more posts in the same format, if I can be arsed.
Was driving back from Attercliffe towards Wicker and there was traffic queing right back from Wicker to Dixon Ford so something was going off with traffic round there.
Wasn't traffic from the Arena was it - REM was on there tonight.
Traffic looks ok at the junction of Nursery Street/Wicker on the traffic camera.
mbunting 21-02-2005, 22:09 Big flakes in Coal Aston now, going to bed.
Got to be up at 6am for my daily journey to work in Nottingham !

clogginchris 21-02-2005, 22:10 REM show was cancelled. Sob, sob. So there was a lot of traffic leaving around 9
I suppose I should go to bed myself now, I will look forward to tomorrows alleged snow....
Should it snow, don't forget to check the travel news - www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews if you are driving (and don't forget the winter driving tips on the council website), www.sypte.co.uk if you are going by bus, or www.nationalrail.co.uk if you are travelling by train.

mbunting 22-02-2005, 05:10 Well, we've got about 1 - 2 cm of snow here. A light covering on the roads.
I'll post later when I get to work, lets see what it's like there.
GimmeSomePK 22-02-2005, 05:59 Snowed a bit arouhnd 2am but it really started heavily at around 3:30am (Broomhill/Huntersbar areas) I drove up the A61 at about 3:45am to get onto the M1 back to Leeds and it was pretty bad going.
What did i see heading back down the road i'd just slid all the way up? A snow plow and a gritter!, we passed at the roundabout as i went on to the motorway. There was a van tipped over about 5 miles up the M1 as well. Drive carefully today, roads were slippy over night.
-PK-
There was an interesting set of tracks in the snow at the top of our street really early this morning :hihi: Some div nearly lost it
It's getting warmer, and the snow's melting up here in Woodhouse, so I'm hoping there'll be no accidents.
Of course there's the odd idiot who wasn't expecting to have to dig the car out from under the snow, and is now zooming about in a hurry coz they're late
Nobody was expecting snow last night, were they
LoopyLou 22-02-2005, 06:16 it's snowed yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:clap:

mbunting 22-02-2005, 07:07 Well, down here on the western edges of Nottingham, they've had very little that's settled.
However, the other side of Nottingham ( a bit like Hillsborough to Sheffield ), they've had quite a lot.

DaBouncer 22-02-2005, 07:11 Loadsa snow settled in Sheff this AM, but did I fear it in my car? Nah.
