Please bare with me, I'm only posting one photo from the trip - will post more tomorrow as it's getting late and it's the first time I've ever used photobucket.
I quite like this one. Considering there wasn't flash photography allowed in the Duomo I think I got a good shot. He was pretty high up and you couldn't see his face properly so I put my telephoto lense on and this is the result.

Please let me know what you think and is there anything I need to do to it?
Many thanks.
Can I ask, when you upload photo's to photobucket do any of you resize your images because it seemed to take forever just to upload one image :loopy:
Also, don't forget to vote for me below :)
It's a nice picture, with good focus and exposure. Using a flash on such a textured subject would almost certainly have ruined the shot.
I often take pictures like that and then decide they're maybe a little too symmetrical. If you wanted something a little different you could try cropping to emphasise the distant expression by homing in on the face, but giving him some space to look into....

I also gave it a little noise reduction and sharpening, but hardly any.
Or you could just leave it as it is :D

Here are some more images.... I really like the one's of the locks, although the water beneath was murky you could see some keys. I was fascinated by this bridge, there were lover's locks everywhere.
I wonder what happen's when the lover's break up :loopy: do they jump in the water and retrieve their keys. Will have to look into this further :).

First I expanded canvas by 100 pixels, first using eyedropper tool to select a dark brown color from the image, to give me more area to work with and to expand the area above the head.
Then I used levels and selective color to bring out the highlights of the bust and to darken the background, i then used the clone tool to take out any noticeable light parts on the background wall.
Selected a near circular marquee (feather to 50 px) and positioned it to encircle the neck and head, then inverted it.
Bucket filled the outer selected area with a dark brown, then (after deselecting all) used the smudge and burn tools to blend and darken any light areas that were showing at the top and base of the image.
I then made a final adjustment to the levels before cropping the image to size,
nothing complicated just straight forward photoshop and took about five minutes to do.
Was wondering why Chumley removed most of the neck and shoulders?
as in my eyes they are an important part of the photo.

I just wanted to show how you could home in on the facial expression for a different type of picture.
I liked your take on it, which has that classic "shaft of light" look, although maybe just a little overprocessed.
Both variations illustrate the point that taking a good picture can be just the start of the whole process - there are so many different ways of presenting the results.

There are no travel without any memories and it is even special if we happen to be with one's loved ones.
