Hello,

We are getting married in august and plan to have a short service conducted by the registrar which will be the formal legal part of becoming a legal 'civil partnership', then later in the evening when we have been joined by additional friends and guests, we will be having a more full and personal celebratory ceremony conducted by a humanist celebrant.

I just wanted to get some good traditional sheffield forum feedback on how this sounds, we opted for a humanist as we want to completely create our own service and make it very personal to us, and give lots of scope for everyine to be involved. But couldnt cater for everyone in terms of a formal meal, and we also want our close friends and family to witness the official legal bit too.

So we are hoping to be able to combine all these elements. What do you think? Dont want to baffle and/or bore people.

You won't baffle or bore anyone love! Sounds like the perfect solution! Lots of people have a 2 stage or 3 stage event, i.e. immediate friends and family for the legal/formal bit (registrar in your case); close friends and family for the early stages of the reception/party/meal (or in your case, the humanist ceremony); then work mates etc. for the last bit/disco etc.

To make it clear to your guests all you need to do is word their invites differently -If it is of interest to you, and if you haven't already ordered your invitations -I can certainly help. I actually design wedding stationery and so can advise you on wording.

My company Leelou Designs, has a beautiful and distinctive collection of modern and traditional wedding stationery to choose from. I also specialise in bespoke design -to suit any budget and any style! I am currently working on new collection specifically aimed at the civil partnership market (which will be featured on my new website). Alternatively, if you would prefer I can do a completely original design for you.

You can e-mail me at leeloudesigns@hotmail.com. (My website leeloudesigns.com is currently being re-designed, but will be up and running again in a couple of weeks).

I also work with my mum's cake company 'In Love With Cakes' to produce coordinated designs, so if you are interested in having your cake designed to match your stationery or theme then let me know.

Hope that helps!

Lisa :)
