View Full Version : Moulin Rouge, Paris - anyone been?
I'm off to Paris this year and was wondering if anyone has been to the Moulin Rouge? It's actually my hubby that would like to go, he's got a bit of an obsession with the film I think! I've looked on their web site and it does look quite good, but we are still unsure. Any comments might help us to make our minds up!
lazyherbert 19-01-2008, 19:37 We wanted to go when we were in Paris last year but it was booked up for the night we wanted.By all accounts it is a good show & you can book a meal while you watch the show.If you cannot get in there you could always go to the Pigalle a little further down the RUE.
Yes I first went about 17 years ago and would said it is a must along with seeing the Eiffel tower, the Lovure, the Sacre Coeur, Notre dame cathedral and if you can stand it the catacombes.
Also make time for a trip on the seine and shopping in the Champs Elysees which is a most definate must in my opinion;)
Nigel Womersle 20-01-2008, 17:38 Yes, I have been. It's a brilliant show, but a nightclub - not become a theatre as portrayed in the film. Well worth a visit. I went to the Folies Bergere too. That's also a must. We hoped to be able to go to The Lido, but it was too expensive.
Thanks for your replies, think I'm gonna give it a go. What's the dress code at Moulin Rouge?

Trousers with a sneaky hole in the pocket for the fellas probably.

They certainly do. They also jump off platforms and land doing the splits.

My missus says I can go to both venues when I'm old enough.
I'm 66....when should I ask her again?
brianthedog 22-01-2008, 07:16 One thing about the Moulin Rouge... The area it's in makes the red light district of Amsterdam look positively upmarket!
Yeah, it's well seedy! We didn't go inside the Moulin Rouge but the outside was a disappointment. Although, I guess people aren't generally there for the buildings...
If you're in the area though, definitely go and see Sacre Couer. It was amazing, the best sight in Paris, I'd say. Impressed me more than the Eiffel Tower.
Classic Rock 22-01-2008, 09:57 It's a long way from the other main attractions, I took a taxi to get there. I didn't watch a show but took photos from the outside. Warning though, it's a very seedy part of town. I didn't feel very safe there, don't hang around for long.
Nigel Womersle 29-01-2008, 16:32 I agree, it doesn't look much from the outside. It's certainly not like that inside - honest.
