I am assuming you mean the new ones near Morrisons. It is a nice area, very close to all amenities and the houses look ok.

Thanks for your replies.
Yes you are right. These houses are being constructed by David Wilson and are just opposite the Morrison supermarket.

I am worried about any trouble spots near by.There is mention of "Sewage works" close by and are there any further planning in that area.

I lived on the heathlands estate years ago next to that new one and it was excellent, you can walk down to a country track and be out in the country in no time, its near to a good selection of local shops, the tram service and we never had any issues at all.

There is a swimming pool in Eckington which is a ten minute drive away, or I think there is one at Westfield School but I am not sure of when it's open.

My in-laws live there and the area seems fine to me. The only critisism I would have is that traffic seems a bit heavy. The link road has Drakehouse Retail park, Crystal Peaks and Morrisons within a mile of each other and it can be a pain even on Saturday & Sunday when the great religion of "shopping" is being practised. I'm not sure what it's like at peak hours but it's probably a case of too many new houses going up and not enough infrastructure.

I have lived at Halfway for 5 years with no major problems.

Plus points:

Crystal Peaks which is being extended. 'Next' moving in during the summer which is good.

Sheffield biggest retail park Drakehouse and Peaks retail park next door

Two Supermarkets close by and Asda only 15 minutes away(depending on traffic).

Trams and regular Buses into town 41 every 6 minutes.

5 minutes from countryside.

Rother Valley Country park.

Still a reasonable priced area for housing(compared to other areas).

10 minutes to motorway network.

Eckington sports centre close by.

killamarsh sports centre close by.

Minus points:

The main road between Crystal Peaks and Halfway is far to busy and needs to be made into a Dual Carriage way sooner rather than later.

Westfield Centre.

Halfway Centre.

But nowhere is perfect.

Halfway has changed quite a lot over the last fifteen years, it used to feel as though you were travelling to the edge of the world to get there on the bus passing through Waterthorpe and Westfield. and so was fairly quiet. Unfortunately as more of the green fields around the area were built on it soon felt like an extension to Westfield and the building of Morrissons and increasing the size of Crystal Peaks did bring a lot more traffic to the area. Anyone buying a house out there should remember that there are a lot of housing association and council homes all over the place, and can look remarkably run down for such new houses. Two area's I remember was up by the Double Top pub and down by the Mill? the big pub at the bottom of the hill on Station Road as looking very tatty.

Living at Halfway?

I thought people just existed there! :D

Seroiusly, I didn't like it when I stayed there. I was there a while with my mate in her house, and I never felt very safe or at home.

Its not that bad! Its a lot safer than the likes of the Manor,Burngreave,Pitsmoor etc

I moved up hear 5 years ago from Meadowhead where in the year before i moved my car was broken into twice and the next door neighbour was burgled. I have not had any problems since i have lived here. It is a very family area and isnt that good for socialising and i do miss living nearer to Woodseats.

I think swallownest is skankier than halfway, but closer in and has more going on.
If you like the countryside, you can go for really good walks round halfway. Eckington and Ridgeway (anywhere in Derbyshire nearby) are unspoilt.
I wouldn't call either swallownest or halfway dangerous. There a million miles better than the likes of t'manor etc.
