Yeah, bin firefox and use IE.

Sure IE has its problems but is a lot more stable than FF, and the version of IE that comes with XP Service Pack 2 has a built in pop up killer, which negates the only previous advantage of FF over IE.

And the award for most uninformed post goes to.....

The adavantages of Firefox ove Internet Explorer are a lot more than a built in popup killer. For starters, IE is written using shared code from windows explorer, leaving it open to various security exploits and much more vulnerable to spyware etc. Firefox isnt, its much more secure than IE. Its also a lot faster. Its extensions allow levels of customisation that youd never get with IE. All in all, its just a far more well written piece of software than the piece of crap that is Internet Explorer. In short, youre talking out your arse. :loopy:

To the OP: Try clicking file/import. That will allow you to import favourites from IE. No idea about switching users though, never heard of that, although someone else here might have.

And FF works on Linux.

Leigh: That's usually caused by FF not shutting down correctly and having two instances open. Use Ctrl-Alt_Del and stop all Firefox processes. If that fails, go to Start > My Computer > C: > Program Files > and delete the Mozilla Firefox folder.
Doing so does not lose any personal information.

And to "Rich" - wtf are YOU doing in a forum called Ask an expert ?
You obviously have not the slightest clue about any browser issues, security, spoofing and handing out advice like that is what has turned the internet into the heaving mass of crap that it is.

I've been using Firefox for a few months, and have noticed a really significant decrease in the amount of spyware picked up.

I love the tabs as opposed to all the windows, and overall I wouldn't switch back to IE, but there are two things that do annoy me sometimes, one of which in particular I thought could be to do with my settings? When you press "ctrl+T" or "ctrl+W", why does the new tab/window not come up with whatever was in the tab/window you were previously looking at? (as in "ctrl+N" with IE)

The other feature of IE I miss is the ability to highlight search terms on a page. I know you can do a "find next" but it is not quite the same. Is this fixable?

Beckyaa: Both those issues can be fixed with an extension. Cant remember off hand what the extensions you need are called though, but it shouldnt be too hard for you to find them.

Not really NO. Would you care to give a well balanced argument why? Instead of spouting crap.

Rich,

The 'Blink' text attribute on your web site doesn't work with IE, but FF handles it.

S'pose that's one reason to stick with IE then, as it makes your site look better.

:p

ROFLMAO

Where do people like this get their hair brained thoughts, sheesh.

Firefox is stable, reliable and secure, IE is the biggest POS to have ever been created, well, one of them, thanks for making me laugh though.

Oh, and Rich, the site your linking to, about 90% of the links do not work, loverly 404 errors, thanks for that one
