On several webpages I have clicked the "mail to" link, and received the answer:
Cannot perform this action as default email client is not properly installed"
Celeron 2G computer, 512 RAM 160 G HDD
Win XP installed from new.
IE 7.0, Outlook Express 6.0
Looking up settings tells me Outlook Express settings are linked to IE, so why is this so?
When I had this a few days ago (after reinstalling IE7) I ended up having to re-register Outlook Express.
Assuming Outlook Express is in the path specified below, run the folowing line from the Start->Run command box:
"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg
The quotes are needed because there are spaces in the file name for the Outlook Express executable.
After I did this I just reselected Outlook express as teh Default Mail application in Outlook Express (Tools->Options) and set it appropriately in IE and so far so good.
Hope this helps.

Did you try Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs and change the email client?

Yup - wouldn't change a thing.
It didn't show in IE as the mail client and wouldn't retain teh setting as Default Email Client in Outlook itself.
It was very poorly. :)

Thanks!
I used CP --Internet Options, and found that the "default Email" was blank.
I then realised it had been OK before I installed a bigger HDD and used Seagate software to clone the files -- maybe the default got lost there!
Thanks again!
