I got infected simply by looking at a webpage - but it never succeeded because I wasn't using Microsoft technology that enabled it to activate.

I got infected by opening a dodgy email. The email said to open a screensaver. I clicked on it.... Duhhhhh! It was a total b****r to get rid of! Took ages! in the end I had to transfer it onto a floppy cos Norton wouldnt have any of it!

I've had about 3. Most recent ones have been harmless kak worms. Many years ago when I was a novice user I managed to obtain a version of the Chernobyl virus (CIH Virus) on my hard drive which is a lethal virus and ended up losing the lot for the one and only time so far. Lessons were learned the hard way!

Like caprice got the screensaver one and had to format then got the one that was warned about on the forum a few weeks ago and had to format again. Have upgraded my anti virus now.

I've never had a virus. I've never had an email that had an unknown attachment either, but if I did I wouldn't be stupid enough to open it. I think a lot of computer viruses are overhyped anyway.

One conspiracy theory I have is that some viruses are developed deliberately by Anti-Virus software companies, meaning people will have to buy their product to protect themselves from the virus. Since most viruses seem to have no motive, this could be more plausible than blaming it all on some geeky American teen with a lot of time on his hands.

its not hard to keep your wits about you, never open unsolicited attachments unless someones told you about em, and always update AV software, and have a firewall.

i had that one on MSN that makes you keep winking and saying stuff about george bush and its still there i think. I havent been on MSN for some time but im sure the last time i went on it was still doing it. It really confuses people.

I have had loads of viruses mainly from Joke sites but never from Adult sites or Kazaa...last one i got was from MSNroom.com i tried to download some robot type thingy for MSN :x
