I've finally cleared an area of my allotment that other (lovely) allotment holders have used as a dumping ground for decades - amazing what you find.

Anyway there were various things on the ground (paint, unknown liquids in jars, oil cans etc) and I wanted to get the soil tested to make sure I wasn't going to grow veg in polluted soil. Where/how can I get it tested in Sheffield or do I need to send it away
someplace?

Am I being too cautious - do paint/turps etc clear from the soil after a decade or so?

Any advice/experiences welcome...
