I have a space on one of my top toolbars and a small amount on another so I went into view, unlock toolbars, moved the small toolbar alongside other, fitted ok then back into view and lock toolbars. everything works fine but after shutting down pc and starting up again next day the toolbars have gone back to what they were before I changed them. text size and content stays as I put it after a restart so can anyone explain why my toolbars don't please?

How do mate? What toolbars are you talking about? Internet Explorer? Office? (and which toolbars of which app)

If its your interrnet toolbars my highly technical explaination is that its because theyre a pain in the asre, and dont like doing what they're told! Im sure we'll be able to sort it though if you tell us what it is

I've got an Epson toolbar (print to page etc) which is only about 1/3 the length of the screen so I fitted it next to my eBay toolbar which only takes up about 1/2 width of the screen.
Got Gretna tonight so should put us a bit safer above Celtic so i will be sat watching Setanta at 7.45. Cheers.

The only thing I can think of is that you have some kind of spyware or something like that which is reseting the default at restart. Do you notice any messages mentioning 'ITBarLayout' on any of your security programs when you restart? If so, run updates and scans to see if anything can be found.

This link (http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-607228.php) has a few more ideas for you.

I got Setanta on a 3 month free trial which ran out at Christmas - managed to see all of two whole games! I'm too tight to pay for it now!

Cheers for that, shall look into it. I've got CCcleaner and TweakNow and the "dreaded" Norton so I should be fairly well covered.
I got Setanta with having XL Virgin package. Was gutted when "Auld Firm" game was postponed but respect reason allthough I think A minutes silence would have been more effective. I'm sure Phil O'Donnel would have wanted the games to go ahead.

I doubt very much it has anything to do with spyware...

Most likely to be a very small bug in one of the toolbars, where when windows asks how big it needs to be (to work out where to put it) the first time, it forgets that one of more buttons are hidden.

After the 'mis-size', the button(s) are already hidden when windows asks, so it reports the correct size and windows lets you bump the toolbars together.

Similar bugs are present with the quick launch toolbar on the task bar. It won't let you set it to certain sizes as it can't cope with the different margins / spacings when "lock toolbars" is in each setting.

Solution? Check for updated versions of the toolbars. Or try them in a different order.
