I am trying to find information about the Tramcar Inn which used to be at 851 Attercliffe Road.....i dont think it is there now but i think it was there until after the 1950's.....
I have just found out a member of my family was the publican there at the turn of the twentieth century so any information about the pub would be gratefully received.....
Many Thanks!
Hi jatk,
You're right the Tramcar pub in no longer there, it disappeared sometime in the 1970's. I remember there always used to be a fruit and veg barrow parked outside on the side-street, always busy too.
For a great photo of the Tramcar go to:

Go to photo No. 202, about three quarters down the page. It looks like it was taken sometime in the 60's.
Hi Pietro
Thank you so much for this.....it is a really good photo and its great to see what the pub looked like rather than just have a name.....
Quite a few of my family seemed to be publicans at that time...so i wasnt suprised to find another one!.....they seemed to go from working in the steel or cutlery industries to having a pub in their later years......
Many thanks again
