It' now just called the Yorkshire Bank, but yes it's still there at the top of Fargate.

Yorkshire Bank is a bit misleading though, as it's now owned by an Australian company!

Yorkshire bank used to be a lovely bank, my dad worked there so I remember it right through my childhood. These days it is a bit too clinical and has culled most of it's small local branches, and you have to queue for ages if you need some facetime with a cashier.

The building you refer to is the former Albany Hotel at the top of Fargate. It still looks ok, and still Yorks Bank. And is called Fargate Branch.

Nope....Yorkshire Bank is on the corner of Fargate and Surrey St, up by the Town Hall. There is a bank I think on Coles Corner but can't remember which it is.

Although the old building is no longer there, it just stands on the site!

Despite surviving the war, they pulled the old building down in the 1963, after coles relocated to their current building in barkers pool. The current building has been there since then, although they have knocked it about from time to time since.
