View Full Version : What topic would you like to see a new forum cover?
I would love to see one that is just for holiday experiences, good and bad. We could then tell other Forummers whether we had enjoyed some resort, or warn them to avoid a company or hotel who gave us bad service.
What do you think ?
I agree, but I'd like to see it go further than that, for example recomendations for all kinds of services, mechanics, plumbers, estate agents, solicitors etc etc etc.
Think (?) Geoff said he was going to do somert like this - but it was a while ago.......
Like the holiday one in particular.....
I think a specialised review sectuion would be good, with seperate areas for film reviews, game reviews, album reviews etc.
Sam Miguel 16-02-2005, 12:23 I think this would go down well. It's nice to get independent reviews of accomodation and resorts before you book.
It doesn't have to be abroad. It could just be a weekend break in Britain. I, for one, would welcome this.
The only thing is that it needs people to be bothered to contribute.
Would one of the Mods ask Geoff if he would think about setting it up ?

Owdy, are you sure it just wasn't you they knew were coming and boarded up all the windows.
mojoworking 16-02-2005, 22:10 I don't care what you call it, but I'd like to see a topic that doesn't mysteriously disappear (or gets locked) the minute it starts discussing matters that the overly PC moderators don't like or agree with. This happens time and again and it's getting to be a joke.

Owdlad.
Why not set it up yourself? Hey once it's off the ground think of the advertising revenue possibilities in the future :D

I can't think whatever you are getting at mate
But 100% for that one.

DEFFO! Can't tell you how many times I've been stung phoning some cowboy out of the paper who clocks the neighbourhood & slaps an extra £50 on. Or just doesn't turn up at all. Ever.

I prefer to let Geoff reap any benefits from all the hard work he has already put into this excellent forum to which we all contribute ;)
Roughly translated. I don't know how :(

Don't you start on me, or I will spill the beans about your thoughts on Hendersons elixir of life :P
I have only just read this thread, I was thinking to myself the other wouldn't it be great if there was a general travel section, where you could give your holiday moments good and bad, ask questions on travel anywhere in the world, etc.
Owdlad I think it should be submitted as an idea, I do believe people will use it as you do see some users asking in different topic areas for travel tips, etc. This will be well used IMO, hope to see it up soon:thumbsup:
Cheers Duffman I have asked the question, and await an answer from Geoff.
Excellent, wish I had asked about it a lot earlier as I love to travel, usually on my own and to places people I know haven't been to either, so this will be handy.
*bump*
Just had a thought (yes I know they are far and few between) I would like to see a picture gallery for the froum users. We have users on this forum from all over the world and some have sent live web cam views and pictures of where they are from. Not sure on how it would work but you could submit your holiday snaps, nights out (pending there are no smutty pics) Sheffield secnery, etc.
What do you think? I would like to see something like that, and just hope it wouldn't get pulled for Inappropriate use

It can be done like this:- Rhosilli Bay (http://www.PhotoShare.co.nz/PhotoShareGallery1/100193/104485/PC-Dscf4883a4614_M.jpg)
Or a direct link to a host site or a photographers own web site:-

I suspect that having a picture forum would use a lot of bandwith (but I have no idea if this true or not).
I do like the idea of separate section for this sort of posting.

Really, I think they're probably more concerned with keeping things friendly and constructive, not with being 'PC', which seems to be a phrase people use when someone stops them being rude or personally attacking people. This happens time and time again and its getting to be a joke.

I would like a "bargains" thread where we can post details of special offers and sale bargains.

I thought that's what the For Sale part of the forum is meant to be...maybe not :(
I was thinking more along the lines of things for sale in shops, rather than personal stuff fro sale.
I would like to agree with the idea of a bargain forum .
It would be great to be able to pass on or pick up some good bargains
a few of the other forums i visit have these forums but there for all over the UK and it would be a lot better to have it for just this area

You're always welcome to drop by HotUKDeals (http://www.hotukdeals.com) ;) It doesn't only do Sheffield bargains though which is what some of you may be thinking of.
I like the idea of a local services yae/nae thread where we could post recommendations and experiences. I guess this is fraught with problems like self-promotion and negative comments about competitors though.....
The legal implections of bagging a hotel or resort are orrsome. It could get the forum shut down.
