hi,does anyone know of a cheap room for hire for a last minute wedding.it's for my nephew.they want to do their own catering to help keep the cost down.it will need to hold 50-60 people(which includes children) and want it to be s5/s6 end of town.any help appreciated thanks!

I haven't hired the samll room at St Philips but did hire the big room for our wedding, and I have to say that the owners were incredibly accomodating, helpful and friendly. I couldn'trecommend them enough, and it was only £50 for a huge room too :D

I had a birthday party at the Empire bar in town in the VIP section - can easily hold upto 70 people and won't seem like their wandering about - plus all the lurvly ladies & gents you and your guests can admire (is freshers week after all!)

We had my wifes 30th at Crsytal Bar on Carver St (in between West St and Division St) in the City Centre, it was great, we were able to hire out one of the rooms for part of the evening and had some food as well. Best to give Hayley a call she was fantastic in organising it all. 0114 272 5926.

I am also looking for a room for a fundraiser.

I have just rung Don Valley Stadium as they have a room that holds 250 with a bar. It costs £30 and you can bring you own food and DJ if needed or they can arrange for you.

The other one I know is Brincliffe Oaks room holds 175 and they charge £50 with no food but if you want food you do have to take their food.

The Burton Street Foundation in Hillsborough has a function room you can hire. It has a fully stocked, licenced bar with a full working kitchen. The area has just being revamped and has a bright modern feel to it, whilst set in an old victorian school (the one used in the Full Monty). Easy access by tram or bus and is fully disabled accesible.

You can hire the downstairs bar of the Forum for about £50, they do food as well if you want. Only downside is the maximum number is around 50 and after 11 it opens to the rest of the bar. I had my 40th there and it was great, by the time the place fills up you dont mind sharing with everyone else!!

We went to a 50th birthday party at Bradfield Village hall last week, and had a lovely time. Brand new hall, well decorated and a bar. The only problem for an 18th would be that transport home might be difficult as the last bus is 11.20 ish.

One thing to be aware of for an 18th anywhere is that if there is a bar they won't serve younger friends who aren't 18 yet. At my sons 18th, there was a whole crowd of lads who spent the evening in the carpark drinking their own beer brought in which really spoiled the whole thing for those of us sitting alone inside :/

There were two Polish clubs: the ex-servicemen's club and the catholic centre. The ex-servicemen's club has closed down, but the catholic centre is still alive and kicking and has a huge function room.

I take it you're enquiring as to the availability of late night hostelries which will cater for your party needs past 11.30? ;) Well ALL clubs will be open after half eleven, else they'd be pretty rubbish clubs.

Give us more info and you'd get better answers - what night, what for, when etc etc. Some places you'd be able to hire in the week but not on a weekend, and so on, so narrow it down a bit if you can :)

People are rather mean which often makes me wonder why people bother enquiring about things on here.

The young girl is asking for help regarding a good location for her 18th birthday. Chances are if she's turning 18 she won't know about licensing and clubs and is probably just going on the limited places she has been.

Cut her a break and help her out.

If you want somewhere small and cheap I'd try The Runaway Girl near The Globe pub by the trainstation. It holds up around 100 people and they can do buffets and things aswell.

Upstairs at DQ is a lovely venue to have a party in aswell and is quite a bit bigger but brilliant.

You can also reserve the back of Bungalows & Bears on Division Street and they can do buffets aswell.

Hi, I am looking to organise a birthday party for my partner next month and am looking for some ideas as to where to have it. I'm not from Sheffield so my knowledge is limited, hence why I'm asking for help.

Ideally I'd like a private room with access to a bar that is also open to those aged under 18. We have people coming from all over Sheffield so somewhere central or easy to get to via public transport.

I know a place which is quite good - its a nice open venue too so it doesn't get too stuffy. It's cheap at the mo as well.

Do you allow children and do they have to be out by a certain time? Reason im asking is because my sister booked her wedding reception at a place. They allowed her to book it (knowing they would be kids obviously) and they then told her at 6pm they had to be out by 7pm they only got there at 4.30pm. It was a right con.

as far as im aware the philidelphia has a childrens licence so they dont expect kids to leave at any spacific times, one of my familly members is the head commity person so i can ask for you and clarify that they do allow kids.

the rates are £80.00 but £50.00 of that is a deposit which you get back if there is no trouble and everyone leaves the club in time. As for the earlier quote children are allowed at anytime so long as they are not left to run round the club. the capacity is 150 max.

Beighton Lifestyle Centre is a converted Church Hall which has two smaller or one large room for hire. Reasonable rates and becasuse its a social enterprise all the profits are reinvested in the community. No alcohol licence, but you can take your own as long as you put it on your booking form. DJ can be arranged for you, as can food

If you were interested in a venue in the city centre, I would recommend Runaway Girl; this has capacity 85 and is available for private parties on certain nights, such as Sundays.

you might be better of with your local community centre and hiring a mobile bar

Could anyone reccommend any city Centre venue which could be booked for a Hen Party with a Drag Act booked seperately from outside, providing the entertainment (Ideally, NOT one of the Gay venues, because a large Hen Party crowd might put off the regulars), but the venue concerned should also be happy to host drag for the adult audience on the night, without offending anyone. PA including a LIVE mic would have to be available, and preferably an in-house DJ or at least decks.

Whitley Hall's not bad for a big do, we're having Dad and Auntie Irene's combined 60th do there next month, they'll do anything you want food-wise, and have rooms for people who get too drunk to drive home after the do.

Big Parties have to be planned ages in advance to guarantee availability of the venue etc.

Desperately looking for a venue to hold a halloween party for about 40 - 50 people on Saturday 1st november. I'd like to be able to provide our own music and food. Ideally fairly central to the city centre. I have a budget of about £100 to £150.

Try the Barracuda/ Smith and Jones group, I've booked the Psalter so you can't have that, but there's the fountain, the Scholar and a couple of others.
The rooms are free and the buffets are from £3 a head.

Hi I am back and very happy to be able to tell you that we had a fabulous 70th birthday bash at The Devonshire Arms on Ecclesall Road . We were able to do our own buffet and decorate the room ,which is a beautiful Conservatory with Art Deco glass in windows . It was lovely to have the bar where we could overflow as there were 60 of us!!The staff are very friendly .The room was free! and we had the use of the kitchen which is quite small but lovely pots and cutlery and an excellent fast dishwasher!! I was lucky !!two friends did the catering.Can thoroughly recommend .I shall most likely use it again as it is so pleasant , comfortable and convenient.

Recommend The Devonshire Arms Ecclesall Road. We have just had a super 70th birthday bash with 60 people on October 25th!!Did our own buffet but used the bar for drinks . It was great!! Very comfortable and friendly amenable staff. We had a few children too!!Good Luck with your search
