Following on from the success of last June's Mosque Open Day and by request from the visitors; the Muslim Welfare House of Sheffield is now opening up it's doors on the last Saturday of every month to non-Muslim visitors. The first event will be held on Saturday January 26th, from 10am to 2pm.

It's an opportunity to pop-in for a coffee/tea, ask questions about Islam, have a tour of the Mosque and meet ordinary, professional Muslims. Come and exchange views and generally increase your awareness of Islam and Muslims, aswell as to have any media myths cleared.

The Muslim welfare house is located at:

8-10 Severn Road,
Broomhill,
Sheffield, S10 2SU
(Behind the new Jessops Hospital)

Free entry, Free literature, Free refreshments. All welcome! :)

That means finding out the ACTUAL position of Islam regarding women, forced marriages, (dis)honour killings, Shar'ia law etc. rather than what's in the sensational headlines on the front pages of the tabloids and the half truths contained within the articles.

Good luck with your open day - a bit more mutual understanding would be a wonderful thing!

which brand of Islam is preached in the mosque?

Any affiliations with MCB/Muslim Brotherhood etc?

I'm not aware of any "brands", but there is one Islam; that God is one and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His last and final messenger.

Regarding MCB, it's an umbrella support group of the majority of the mosques in Britain but not part of the Islamic teachings hence I don't see the relevance.

That's why I'm saying pop along and ask questions directly.

See you there (Upperthorpe's not far :D)
