Just been given a Makro card at work. What is it I looked on the internet but I couldn't understand why they would give me a cash and carry card? Is this somewhere I want to go? Can I take a friend? Will it be fun? What should I wear? Will there be balloons? Ooooh, I'm getting all nervous!

I get this card from my work too, went there once or twice but found it crap. Haven't bothered since!
I think it's okay if you want to buy huge amounts of things like food/cleaning etc. They also sell clothes, jewellery and tons of other stuff... and it's all cheap so dress casual, you can take a friend and it won't be fun!
Also, there may be balloons but they won't be blown up :P

Rather than messing around with a card for cheap stuff, I'd just go to Big W or something instead!

Enjoy the party...

They sell all sorts, it's worth having a look - lots of it is crap but there's usually a few decent things there.

They sell bulk amounts of food very cheap.

For instance...

6x2lt bottles of Coca-Cola = £5.50.

Much cheaper than the 'shops'

That is very cheap. I do like cheap. Thanks for the help guys... you may notice me in the street soon, I'll be the one wearing cheap gold jewellery, casually dressed, carrying 6 x 2ltr bottles of coke with a balloon tied round my wrist.

That particular look is considered the new 'black tie' in some parts of Sheffield!

Oh yeah, now I remember why I really hated it!! :suspect:

You think everything is cheaper than normal add all the prices on the labels and think.... VAT is only a little more so that's really good.... and then it suddenly becomes not so cheap when you get to the till!! :loopy:

Want you really need is a JTF card. Its a 'proper' wholesale outlet with prices to match! Try to persuade your work to get a couple of cards - IIRC they only offer 4 per establishment?

Its situated at Catcliffe across from Big W/Morrisons

If you think Makro sell crap you're in for a real surprise at JTF. It's the 'Lidi' of cash and carrys. Add the surly staff, scruffy foul toilets and long checkout queues and you have a wonderful day out!

Now, go to the Leeds one and it's completely the opposite. Friendly staff who say hello and much cleaner facilities in general.

Makro is OK for carefully controlled, bulk purchases. Ideal for a family with a freezer and storeroom.

Not everything is cheaper though and one misguided purchase can wipe out your savings!

I only went once to JTF , and I wasn't impressed either. That said, I think Makro staff leave a lot to be desired!

There's one woman at Makro who always tries to insist that I leave my bag at reception. It annoys me because I often see women with bigger handbags than my bag in the store!

Anyhoo, she wasn't best pleased when I pointed out that I wasn't happy leaving my bag with her, as it cost more than she earned in a week. Kristian gets very snobby sometimes

She might have a second career as a high class hooker. I don't think that was a fair assumption.

Then why the first career in Makro? And trust me, nobody would bay to sleep with this woman! :gag:

She might just enjoy working there, could be a millionaire for all you know :)

Just because it cost a lot of money doesn't mean she'd want to nick it.

I guess anything's possible! However if I were a millionaire, I could think of better things to do!

Incidentally, I didn't think she was going to steal it, I just don't like leaving my posessions unguarded, especially when they were expensive to buy.

In addition, I left my bag there once before, and when I returned to collect it, I was asked which one was mine. I could have picked any! Not exactly security minded!

 i love it, i love it, only thing is i spend a fortune,JTF supply co-ops and usually everything that co-op sell is a third of the price at JTF, last year we bought garden furniture for £179 plus vat, the same furniture was nearly £400.

i don't think you should be 'slandering' this woman. She is only doing her job. Big bags are not allowed in Makro, even motorbike helmets are taken off customers and they don't complain!

Never ever buy vehicles from makro motors (now virgin motors i think) - it took 4 MONTHS for us to recieve a new van (supposed to be maximum 6 weeks)

Which part of the posts do you consider slanderous?
