What are people's views on this. I used to watch him in Neighbours and he was wooden as an old dishboard. He didn't wear make-up, they just applied a fresh coat of Creosote to him from time to time.
Now he is back in that new ITV soap. I have not watched it myself and do not wish to do so but for those who have what do you think of his acting ability?

No i don't think he is,the only good actor to come out of Neighbours is Guy Pearce.

To be fair some were better than others. Kylie was Ok and quite a few of the older ones were quite good but there were a few (shall we say arborial) actors in there as well. :hihi:

Anyone who thinks his acting is bad in Echo Beach should bear in mind that the whole programme is a spoof, and the casting of Jason Donovan was one of the dire decisions made in behind-the-scenes companion show Moving Wallpaper (see separate thread). I can't comment on his other acting jobs, I never watched Neighbours, though it's a philosophical conundrum to ponder whether his bad acting in EB is well-acted put-on bad acting in the spirit of Les Dawson's piano playing, or just straightforward bad acting. :help:
Jason Donovan couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, not even in the Neighbours days 20 years ago, Kylie carried him IMO.
Also, Lee Mead is a better Joseph than Jason Donovan ever was IMO.

Pearce's movies Priscilla Queen Of The Dessert and Memento were very good though,i can't see Jason carrying off anything like those.
