View Full Version : Do you hate derbies?

The pre-match banter's always a laugh, and even the aftermath, win, lose or draw can be fun, but the match itself is torture.

I hate them.

There's just too much passion to be able to enjoy the match itself, as far as I'm concerned.

Whether home or away, while outside the ground, the atmosphere can be the best in the land, but the match itself is always horrible.

Licking emotional wounds always happens afterwards for one side (even after a draw), and no fan minds that, but I've never enjoyed a derby match yet.

Anyone else the same?

I know what you mean - the match itself is usually torture, but, it's still preferable to not having them. After all, if one Sheffield club was always in the top flight and the other always in the bottom, we wouldn't even BE rivals. I'd rather have Wednesday in the top flight with us, so we can take a shot at beating them twice a year, than see them a division below where all we can do is make snide remarks.

yea, the everything apart from the game i enjoy but the game is way too tense and not usually a good game. wouldnt change it though, always the first game i look for. no matter what league we're in i'd rather it be the same, not the same without the derbys
