I really miss hearing Acid Jazz type stuff when I'm out and about. Perhaps I'm just going to the wrong places. It makes me feel old that the only place i hear The Brand New Heavies/Incognito these days is in my local co-op. Corduroy is a material you wear and Galliano is something that you drink now. And Jamiroquai is just Denise Van Outen's ex or a man that wears silly hats and hits journalists.

Is there anywhere else that still plays this sort of stuff about (even elsewhere Manch, Notts, Leeds etc:help:)

Any styles/genres that you miss?

I miss the cheesy "hits" of the early 80s, stuff like Culture Club, Shakin' Stevens etc. Hey Mickey was on the radio coming back from Mum and Dad's in the car, they just don't make cheesy songs like that any more...

I miss original songs with lyrics, instead of a sample of one line from someone elses record repeated again, and again, and again, and again, with a bit rap thown in.

I miss classical music; most of what we hear on Radio 3 or Classic FM was written over a hundred years ago.
Doesn't anyone write contemporary symphonies and operas or did classical music get hijacked by the avant garde and musique concrete movements and disappear up its own aria?

Oh yes, I find those kind of rap songs incredibly annoying.

But then again, apart from some of the stuff done by Limp Bizkit for WWE in the early 2000s, I hate most rap anyway, I used to despise Eminem, till I read somewhere that he has Tourette's, and can't help swearing.

I do think they are the genuine lyrics of the song though Rich. :)
Otherwise he's got really finely tuned Tourettes.

I miss the 'progressive rock' from the Seventies .. Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jethro Tull etc.

No one seems to make music like that anymore.

It's not that no-one's making it it's that the mainstream media doesn't play it. Have a look here;

Thanks for the link Basil, it looks an interesting site. :thumbsup:

Yes, I think it is more a case of 'prog rock' just not being aired.

I agree but its even more annoying that the tracks they use are usually great songs.

Why do the artists let these people use their tracks I certainly wouldnt.

I guess its all to do with money:hihi:
