Its cold and my ears are freezing. In addition the lovely baby llama (http://www.flickr.com/photos/19810784@N08/2183475540/)yarn arrived yesterday (note the Harmony dpns are not for this project - they just arrived in the same package)! I am wanting to knit Gretel (http://ysolda.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3) - it has 3 options though and I am indecisive:suspect: So do I do the fitted beret, the slouchy snood type hat or the one in between. I had originally thought the slouchy option but Im wondering if the in between one might be better. Please help oh knitting gurus:D
Slouchy me thinks. You have long hair and it will look nice plopped on there. Yes, slouchy.;)

I'd go for the in between. There's been a few made where people have had their slouchy go mega slouchy on them and your llama doesn't have the elasticity of wool to start with.
There again, what do I know about hats? Hats made: 50+ hats owned: 0
Have you not thought about having another set of the dpns then you could have three sets of four? They're safe from me, I have a poor track record with wooden needles.
Lisa, your link can't find the page for me at the moment but ever the devil's advocate I suggest you go for the inbetween !!
I have seen people say the slouchy was too slouchy and others saying that they had heard that the slouchy was too slouchy but it was just right so Im none the wiser atm:suspect:
Either way starts the same though so I have cast on:o It was a tubular cast on with a 2x2 rib - OMG that was a kurfuffle!!! Remind me never to try a new technique on the same day that Robin returns from being away please - he was doing his very best to scupper my progress by saying random numbers when I was counting etc:evil:
I'd go for the inbetween, for all the reasons W4B says.
Gretel is looking fabulous and is ontrack for finishing tonight:D Regular looks like its going to have enough slouch for my small head;) Not only did I manage a tubular cast on, but I have also done all the cabling without a cable needle:o This post is just to see whether people think I need to do the blocking on a dinner plate thing????

I did make a beret thing and it looked like something the cat dragged in until I blocked it. You can wear it as is and then decide to block it later. What does it look like now?
Hmm I suspect that I may have knit this a little tight as I have only used 2 skeins rather than the 2.5 expected for the regular size - I still think it looks nice though:D Not having much experience of alpaca is it likely to sag on its own after a few wearings - otherwise is it best to do a full wet block or would a spritz work?
