Did those of you who celebrated Valentines Day and go for a mea, receive the food and service you would have hoped for? Where did you go?

I ask, looking for somewhere to take my lady, had a few bad experiences on previous Valentines nights, being rushed, crap fod etc. So we tend to go out a few evenings later now and wanting to find a really good place. Can be any type of meal, Italian etc.

Cook for your misses...a la comando! At least you can take it easy...in my opinion there is nothing better than my man cooking for me...beats a restaurant ANY day

I took my girl to la scala on abbeydale road. The staff were friendly and helpful and it's a nice smart looking little place.

Rather than face the set menu disappointments of years gone by, we decided to splash out on food from the lovely foodhall at M&S... Oh how I would love to do all my shopping from there... Yummy...

Chinese spare ribs and sticky chilli chicken for starters, then rib eye steak, with new potatoes with rosemary and garlic, baby sweetcorn and posh broccoli.

It also meant that with the rest of the money we'd saved by not going out for a meal, we spent on fizz and lots of scrummy wine from those lovely blokes at Oddbins...

Sensible not to go out on the night itself and all the hassles that entails. The missus and I have always had good meal/service at Piccolos on West St if that helps.
