Anyone know why norton tells me it's checking outgoing emails everytime i connect to the internet for the first time after switching my computer off then back on? Sometimes it just scans then disapears, other times it says it can't send (which is fine as i didn't want to any way!) I know i haven't sent any emails and it's addresses like ecommerce@freeserve, lola@sexnet and abuse@gov that come up quite often.

This isn't actually causing any obvious problems, just damn annoying. Why?!?!?

It could possibly be a Trojan or a virus that is trying to send emails. I say this because of the 'lola@sexnet' one you mentioned. Have you done full spyware/virus and Trojan scans?. Don't just trust Norton to pick these things up, you could have inadvertently given permission for something to be installed and Norton may have then missed it.

Try Panda Active scan:

And Windows Trojan scan:

If you have Ad-aware and Spybot search and destroy, update and then run them. Do this with Norton too!. It is better to run the scans in safe mode too.
