View Full Version : Who went to Sheffield Fayre?
Moon Maiden 13-09-2003, 11:41 Hi all,
I am currently sat in the BBC bus. If their server gets any slower it will stop!!!
Met Cosy - gorgeous lass she was watching from the sidelines as her colleagues had a go on the large trampolines
The Shades shop is situated in the craft tent - so you now have no excuse and MUST visit on pain of hex :D
Lots of goodies - look forward to meeting those who come over!! Glorious day :D
Moon Maiden
DaBouncer 13-09-2003, 15:42 Just come back from the Sheffield Fayre at the Norfolk Herritage Park.
Lovely day, sun shining, battle re-enactments, ice cream, craft tents... all in all an enjoyable couple of hours.
Saw Moon sat 'inside' the craft ten on this lovely day. Met the jolly Cosywolf in the Wildlife tent. Lovely lady, glad to put a face to the name.
Then I got a call from a strange number while I was chatting with Cosy, and guess who it was? Geoff!
Again great to put a face to the name; we've made plans to meet up tomorrow and get handing out some leaflets promoting the Sheffield Forum. Hopefully Tom in Bradway will join us so we can promote on mass.
I reccomend to all that you take a trip down there, as it's free entry (unless you pay £2 to park) and very enjoyable!
Great event Cosy, well organised! Top Banana!
Moon Maiden 13-09-2003, 18:25 I will try and find some thing but basically it is behind Silver Blades!
Fantastic day - I am knackered and have poorly toe from dropping the stall on it :(
Great to finally meet Geoff and of course Db who I have already had the pleasure of meeting at the forum pub do. Shame i didn't get much chance to talk.
I have heard word from some of the re-enactors it will be busier tomorrow. Follows I guess with it being sunday and everyone off work.
He is to another sunny warm day as me and the kids are walking round tomorrow
Moon
im just back from the show! twas quite fun, saw lots of guns and ye olde folk toiling :)
i also saw moonmaiden at her "ye shoppe" i couldnt stop for more than a wave mind :P i was on my way to town before the shops shut
:)
DaBouncer 14-09-2003, 16:02 Tom in Bradway, Geoff and I were there too handing out SheffieldForum.co.uk Flyers, The Shades flyers and Mobileunlocked.co.uk business cards to all and sundry at the fayre.
Although it was nice of Geoff to turn up 45 Minutes late!
Lovely day, very warm and the beer was goooooooooooooooooooooood!
Good to see Cosywolf again, working hard bless her 'little' socks (she's only a wee person).
Got me a stones reading from 'Kirk'; Moons other half. He kindly told me I may have some serious money troubles caused by my other half within the next four weeks, so I need to keep mi eyes peeled.
I gave my fiancee a warning of NO spending on anything other than just general food stuff for the next month! So lets see if this bypasses me!
Great day all round!
so where were you two then  cos i dint see you! and moonmaiden didnt know where you'd got to either :P

DaBouncer 14-09-2003, 16:36 I was wandering round with Tom in Bradway for ages handing out flyers and stuff! Went all over!

Had a great two days at the fayre and I took around 30-40 digital pictures, which will go on the site as soon as my hangover clears. Anyway, nice to put some faces to names and see you all next year.
i was looking geoff :P
if you dont want to involve me in your plans...
(*cough* gerron MSN :P *cough*)
Well I popped down this afternoon, and didn't see anyone :(
Or maybe I did, but didn't know what you looked like....nobody handing out Sheffield Forum stuff though.
It was a good event anyway, the organisers did a really good job.

Cheeky bugger! We arranged 12 noon the previous day. Then you ring me at noon and say you'll be there at 12.30.
You arrive at 12.45pm. Now I'm sure that from our original arrangement that makes it a grand total of 45 MINUTES late. :P
And no Mr Smirnoff excuses will wash with me young man! 8)

Where were you people? I wandered round the battle re-enactment area for AGES handing out flyers. So did Tom!
Crikey... you people are blind... or maybe you just looked like a person who knew about the forum anyways! ;)

:P :P :P
I arrived about 1.15 this afternoon complete with 2 accessories(namely my offspring. Glorious sunshine, all the fun of the fair and lots more besides. Smashing. We had a great afternoon. Heres to many more in the coming years. I have to agree with what has already been said. The organization was excellent. Well done cosywolf. Called on moonmaiden and said hi but had missed DB and Tom and Geoff unfortunately. I will try to get to the next meet though and put more faces to names.

Well, I didn't get there til 3:15 due to being tied up somewhere else.
You missed a trick though - when I got back to my car, there were three leaflets stuck under the windscreen wiper, but not one of them was for Sheffield Forum.
Me and nommedenet went on Sat. Noone handing out leaflets that we saw, soz.
Was good, saw Moon (easy to find with stall) but noone else as didn't know who they were. Those trampolines looked excellent fun. Will go next year.
Moon Maiden 14-09-2003, 21:16 argh very knackered moon. We did bring the tribe fo kiddies in the morning but by noon they were too hot and tired so we sent them off home to be looked after by big sis!
Saw loads of folk at the fayre today was funny trying to remember everyone I had seen to those who came to the stall afterwards.
Thanks to John for the pics of the stall look forward to seeing them and also for giving me my first opportunity for a full blown sales pitch!!!
It was a great weekend, loved every minete of it. I plan to be a little more organised next year. The friends of Norfolk park are a great bunch too. Had lots of loverly chats with the organisers running their stall next to ours!!
A great weekend with lots of loverly people. A wonderful example of the BEST of Sheffield
Moon
no bias or anything but the shades was definatly the best stall i saw :P it was crammed full of goodies! i dont think you could have fitted anything else on! :D
Moon Maiden, I've emailed you the photo as promised.
I was there on both days and took over 100 photos of the event.
When I get into work tomorrow, I will cut you a CD for you cosywolf and send it to the address as soon as I get round to it.
DaBouncer 15-09-2003, 09:28 Yeah... I suppoose people could have missed us since we dint start flyering till 12:45pm (when geoff arrived) and I left 2pm (so did Tom I think). So with 1hr n 15min window... time was short!
But got a lot out there in that time!

What were they?
Should have thought of that one!!!
Classic Rock 15-09-2003, 12:21 Planned to but hangovers on two days running prevented me from getting my act together. No kidding.
Sounded like a brilliant weekend too.
Was there some sort of blue thing there on stilts?? My niece went, she's 2, and all I caught when she telling me about all the excitement of the "fairy" (fayre) was that she was scared of a big blue thing!
Chloé
Yes there was Chloe - I saw it coming out of one of the tents.
I've put some of my photos online @ www.sheffield-life.com/sheffieldfayre - finally found a use for that domain name!
Any comments, corrections, spelling mistakes, photos you want to add etc, drop me a PM.
have you got any photos from sunday around 2~4pm?
DaBouncer 15-09-2003, 20:38 Or 12 - 2pm (when me Geoff n Tom were there)8)
RPG: Most of the photos were taken on Sunday afternoon. A few of them were taken on Saturday, but I was only there for about thirty minutes then.
DB: No, I wasn't there then.

cosywolf 17-09-2003, 10:10 Hello everyone!
Wow, what great write-ups!
I got to meet DB, Geoff, Moon, and Tom in Bradway. Sorry I missed the rest of you....
I can tell you why no-one saw DB, Tom and Geoff handing out flyers...every time I saw them they were standing in the shade drinking beer :P  :P
I was jealous.
The committee also feel it was a great success, so fingers crossed it'll all happen again next year.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I've been hiding in a darkened room for the last two days.
Glad you had fun!

That was mid hand out refreshments I'll have you know!
Damn that was good beer too!
cosywolf 17-09-2003, 10:36 I was just glad to meet people, and take my mind off the whole thing.
You're all lucky you didn't get hugged senseless, which was what I felt like doing...at last, someone wanting to talk to me about something other than a drama, a trauma or a query.
cosywolf 18-09-2003, 09:10 Hallam (http://www.hallamregia.myby.co.uk/Fayre%20photos.htm)
If this works there should be some photos of my re-enactment group here, just for a giggle.
They were taken at Manor Lodge for promotion of Sheffield Fayre.
Enjoy.
Sorry for the delay, I've cobbled some of my photos together:
View Geoff's Sheffield Fayre photos (http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~geoffb/sheffield_fayre_2003/)
If you want copies (i.e. full size, good quality ones) then let me know.
