I have Outlook 2003 Professional edition, and have not trouble receiving messages, but can't send them at all anymore.

Until last week I was on dial-up when at home, and it was all fine, sending and receiving.
I have always had problems sending messages when not at home when I am connected to any broadband or wireless network, but it has not really been much of a problem, I have just waited until I go home to do a send/receive.

I now have wired broadband at home, and I'm experiencing the same problems - I can receive but not send. I have been through all the settings, and searched help, but no luck...please HELP!

I keep going through the settings, thinking it must be something simple, but I can't find it! :help:

Thanks!

I had this working away from home. It turned out my service provider doesn't allow me to send things through their server via another connection for security reasons.

Bloody annoying, but safer I suppose.

I just CC myself (e-mailing from f9 website) with stuff I need to keep in my sent items folder

Ohhh, so if I were to start using a Demon (my service provider) e-mail account I wouldn't have a problem? I am still using an old freeserve e-mail account, and was on Wanadoo dial-up, so it worked, but it won't because now I'm with Demon trying to use freeserve e-mail?
Or I would have a problem, but only when not at home?
:suspect:

Err, I think so. Try asking them via the website. Don't phone them, it usually costs too much :D

Thanks Strix, I'll get in touch with them, see what they have to say!
Think it might be a job for the tomorrow though as it's all going a bit over my head at the the moment - hopefully in the morning I will make a little more sense!

Yep you have to be connected to Freesere/Wanadoo to be able to send emails through their server.

i'm surprised the freeserve account hasn't been deleted anyway. I'd start planning for it to be removed if you no longer ever dial in as they will mark the account as dead after a while.

Not allowing mail to be routed from off server is a spam prevention measure. It's a bit harsh, they could allow authenticated off server routing, but it's easier to just restrict it to people who have dialled in and are on their network.

is still a problem? trying setting the outgoing mail server address to your connecting isp.
