Do people in this country NOT want safe railways?
When the rails have to be repaired, they close the line and put buses on in lieu of the train service so people can still get there.
The number of people who find this outrageous is beyond me! When exactly then do they want the rails repaired? (Oh yes i know now anytime when they are NOT travelling!)
Its well known that at wekend work takes place it's splashed all over time tables posters etc to double check times at weekends but people don't and then are angry/umbridged about alterations which they have failed to check!
Roads have to close for re surfacing, why do people think rails don't? Only in Britain!!!
Maybe people think the railways should be repaired at night when the trains aren't running, like the London Underground, rather than at the weekend, ruining their leisure time ;)

..nice try but the trains DO run all through the night......last arrival into Sheff from london is gone 1 in the morning and their is a service thru the night to man air. So when??? Plus all the frieght trains...............
Yes it might be your, and mine, leisure time at weekends but is is a less busy time than in the week.Sure it's a pain to have to get a busy but if you where on a train that was in an accident cos the track wasn't repaired you'd want to know why it wasn't repaired.
The attitude in this country is yes u want everything ok,yes u want it repaired/safe but only when your not travelling and only to inconvienience someone else
Its a form of NIMBY-ism.
I think the main complaints are from those who haven't checked their journey in advance of travel, who do not realise that it is a coach and not a train scheduled.
Whilst people do need to get into the habit of checking their times and possibly booking their ticket in advance, it is also up to the train operators to ensure the information is out there.
Don't mind them fixng the things. Not much fun if you're on the bus from manc I was on sunday afternoon where we had the joy of one drunken passenger telling everyone vocally he needed the toilet and then doing it in coke bottle in full view of everyone....what a joy. That's one thing I don't want in my backyard!
