Hi

I have had my current job a year now running a small office for a local company. I have been looking for a new job for a few months, as there are no real prospects here and I am finding I am out growing the position fast. I have had a few interviews for more prosperous positions but havent quite got over the hurdle.

I have now decided to hand in my notice, which will then allow me to fully spend my time looking for the real job i want. I can afford a month or two without a job, so leaving does not really bother me.

I wondered if anyone had any advice on how I should go about looking for a new job, other than on the internet and through newspapers. I am registered to a few agencies, but these have all be done over the phone, would I be better off going to speak to someone face to face?

Thanks

don't resign until you have a job.IMHO.
if you do you may fall into the trap of looking or feeling desperate when you got for jobs.
i found the best agency to be primetime, although i did use the Leeds branch at the time.

If you are going to resign, inform job centre, cause you'll get some sort of income support for when you're not working. Inform them beforehand cause it'll take a few weeks to process. Also, have you tryed job centre plus website? :)

If you resign you won't be entitled to any out of work benefits because you chose to make yourself unemployed. Worth checking the Jobcentre Plus website for jobs though.
