Hi everyone, I lost contact with a dear friend a few years ago and her email account is no longer active. Is there anyone out there familiar with the small village that might take the task of helping me make contact with her again? If you are sincerely interested please contact me at dchaussee@hotmail.com I am in the USA so it's hard for me to get any information. Thanks!

I only pass Hope from time to time and I hope that you find someone who can help you out.

As an interim measure, can I suggest that you try using our British Telecom online Directory Enquiries.

Go to www.bt.com
At the bottom - left of the first page you will see "Directory Enquiries - Find a person".

Click on that and you will get a search page which may get you on your way. If you hit lucky you will get a phone number and an address.

Thank you. I only have her maiden name but she is married now to a photographer. I have tried the phone listings that I have access to from here with no luck. Thanks for your help!

Is it just me???

I don't want to start Yank bashing, but isn't this typical of their mentality?

Of course we are only a small nation so we must know everyone else who lives here.

No name provided and even if one was provided, it would only be a first name. Hmmm.....now is that 'whatevername' who lives next door the person being referred to? I'm sure it must be because its the same name!!

And incidentally, whilst Hope is not that far away, its still a fair step from the city. The Forum hardly seems the most appropriate place to post

Rant over:rant:

Unfortunately, I don't believe they are listed. I have tried all of the normal places to find her but to no avail. I am really hoping someone from the area will know her or the family and get a message to them for me. Thanks

Clumber, I hope it's just YOU! Please re-read my post and take a pill. I clearly state that if anyone is familiar with Hope and is interested in helping me, I could be contacted. Upon contact I would gladly give any information I have to assist in the search on that end. I didn't presume that everyone knew everyon else due to the size of the country, so just relax. I know it's a long shot but I have exhausted other means of contact. There has been a death in the family and I wanted to let her know. Nothing sinister. If it was not a proper posting I think the moderators would kick it off. Compared to some of the other posts I have read, it's quite reasonable. Fortunately you have been the exception and many people have sent me suggestions for the search. Now if I can just find ONE person from the area willing to help, I'll quit poking my YANK nose into your postings!

yes it is just you :loopy: if you read the post properly you would see someone who is too far away asking for a bit of help , maiden names are not first names but unmarried surnames, if you have nothing of interest to say then please dont say anything, how do you know that lamous13 is not an ex-pat, there my rant is now over .......

You may want to try calling the Post Office Shop in Hope. Village posties tend to know everyone in their village (at least the Tideswell one did, when we lived there). They may be able to identify the person you're trying to trace...or at least get a message to them.

Their telephone number is +44 (0)1433 620231.

Cheers, Carrie

or, if the husband is a professional Photographer working from Hope, see if their are any listings for photographers in that area?
