View Full Version : Help.. I am stupid.. how to cook chicken breast?
Miss_S_83 07-01-2008, 13:33 As the title says, I am really stupid when it comes to cooking. I have a couple of skinless chicken breasts that I want to cook for later with mash and veg, how do I do it so they aren't all dry? I don't have any foil.. will they just turn to rubber if I bung 'em in oven?
If you put them in a covered dish in the oven with some cooking sauce or gravy or just water - they will not go dry.
You could steam them or grill them or even poach them.
I'd say they would. You do need to cover them really, even if with some sauce or something. Might be worth a trip to the shop to buy some foil. Or ask a neighbour if they have some if the shop is too far to go?
You could poach them, or fry them quick in a hot frying pan, or grill them.
I wouldn't oven roast them unless you have something to protect them with (some streaky bacon would be ok wrapped round them).

Miss_S_83 07-01-2008, 13:44 Thanks guys, I am a right idiot when it comes to cooking, and am trying to be healthier this year, hence home cooking (even if it probably will taste vile!). Will go with covering them but have a limited amount of cooking pots/pans, what do I put chicken on/in and cover with?
Just pop them in a small casserole dish, that should do it.
SpeedwayDan 07-01-2008, 13:47 either a metal dish with a lid or some kind of oven proof pot dish with a lid.
If you've not got any sauce or gravy, just put a little water in the dish too

Preacher Man 07-01-2008, 14:00 a delicous recipe is to drizzle some oil over the chicken breast, baby oil actually produces splendid results.
rub in some rock salt. if you dont have any just rub get some rocks from the garden and rub them against the breasts, the salt crystals will be absorbed straight from them.
wrap in tinfoil and microwave for about 5 seconds per chicken breast (this will make it a little crispy)
put in the oven and cook until its still a tiny bit pink.
its now ready, enjoy!

Yeah... I'm not THAT stupid...:D
Personally, I'd avoid even slightly pink chicken.
do you have a george foreman? I use this for Chicken Breasts and it doesn't dry them out (you don't need sauce or foil for this)
