This thread will not tell you, no matter how long it goes on. Play on all three of them and get the one that you have most fun with.

Unless you want to start the argument of course, in which case... the Wii, obviously. Closely followed up by the 360. I'll wait for the PS3 to offer something new to the world of gaming before I remortgage my house to buy one.

Just my opinion! :)

theyre all brilliant consoles in their own right. just depends what you want from your console.

The Wii is great for fun of play and will actually get the whole family ( i lost to my 80 year old grandad at bowling) involved if you want whilst still offering some great games

Whereas the 360 and the PS3 are more the traditional hardcore gaming console offering a wider variety of games

The only way to decide which is for you is to go somewhere like game or Toys R Us and try them out. Just like the debate from my childhood - PlayStation VS N64 you will never really get a definifitive answer as everyone has their own preferences, opinions and loyalties

As has already been said, the Wii is a superb family gaming console - just like the NES was.

The PS3's biggest merit is it's blu-ray capabilities. The PS3 is cheaper than a standard blu-ray player and also gives you the added bonus of being a games console.

I've only seen Saints Row on an XBOX 360 and thought it was just a GTA clone.

When you started this thread, and below the title box it said:

"This topic may have already be started: check here first!"

What do you think it meant?

Having played them all, I liked the PS3 best, but it doesn't have too many incredible games yet. But it's only a matter of time.

360 - Brilliant online play, great graphics and a mass of games.
Wii - Fun for a while then it gets old.
Ps3 - wouldn't touch any console that the main selling point is it being able to play movies???

I agree the Wii is great when you first get it, and its fun with family, or when your drunk with friends.. but for long term, daily playability, the 360 is probably the better option..

avoid the PS3 like the plague, unless you can get hold of a 60gb version at a reasonable price.

360's Rule OK :p

TBF I'm with you on this (god im agreeing with someone who calls himself wolverine what next a hair cut :D) whilst the others have there merits it would seem that Microsoft has actually gone and done somethig right for a change, the online service is a dream , the games cater for all ages, the graphics are amazing, that have even catered for the fact that grownups have them with children hence the non shiney front (i'm looking at you PS3) that you can change to suit your mood (price a bit high for a bit of plastic but then so where nokia expresson covers when they first came out), there are addons for the console so the expense isnt on the initial outlay.

you can hook it up to a media pc and stream music/videos your family album etc. its intergrated with MSN messenger and can play against vista pc users (and xp although not tried) and they are bringing the XBOX live to the PC as well soon so i hear..

over all the xbox wins due to its features, it may not have a novel way of controling the games, but then again i havent broke my TV either when my hand slipped (this one goes to the WII) and its got a well rounded name (Pun intended) not like something that i need to go do.

Yes the PS3 is generally more powerfull a machine and the nintendo cute and cuddley the XBOX has it all and it doesnt sound like i need to go potty either.

I have all three in my house. The Wii is my partners.

I'm on the PS3 more as my bro and some other mates have one. Plus the fact that it's region free gaming. I've been into american college basketball for years. It's great that I can now play College Hoops 2k8 whereas I would've had to buy the US version of a console to play these games as there is no european release date for them.

Having said that, I do prefer the setup of the Xbox 360 due to its ease of use. I prefer the controllers for some reason, although I've been with PS since '95 when the first PS came out.

To conclude, it all depends on what you want from a console.

I would have to say the ps3 as it can play the playstation game 'worms', I have not yet found a game better than worms for a console, although they are a few simple strategic games on the pc which contend, and of course a few board games, which will continue to be popular for milenni to come.

I have not however played on the wii, and look forward to doing so. For all I know the Wii is the best, it seems to be a different style of playing, although I have played on a flying game on the ps3 which utilise pad movement as means of control in the same way in which the wii does, I do not know if the 360 has this capability.

People are right, this subject has been done to death, everyone will have their own opinion, I shall try and write an unbiased opinion but it isn't easy.

Wii = Very good games console, original, new, fun, great for multiplay.
Xbox = Good games, has a massive online fan base, Halo 3
PS3 = Blu Ray, Wifi, Good games, hasn't been out very long so is yet to catch up.

All three have their merits, but, all three also have their downsides, so, as people have suggested, try them all out and make your own mind up.

I just bought a PS3 a couple of days ago. This is my personally opinion about the three consoles:

- Nintendo Wii -

Went for the simplistic approach that a console should be a gaming device; nothing more and nothing less. It appeals to families more because it has fewer of the traditional die hard games and has a vast amount of 'cartoon' based games. It's great for 'instant fun' but lacks any truely addictive content.

- Microsoft XBOX 360 -

Went for the 'media' hub concept. It's actually very similar to the Playstation 3 - it has similar games, similar media playback etc and a great catalogue of games. It came out a year prior to the PS3 launch so it's games and software is a little more mature than Sonys. I've personally never been a fan of the pads, and although it's powerful enough, it's not as powerful as the PS3.

- Sony Playstation 3 -

Although the Blu-Ray player has seen some people buy the console just for the media playback that doesn't mean it's the only reason the console is great. The game catalogue dissapoints and it wont be until mid 2008 that it sees some of the exclusive games come to the market. It's the most powerful of the three consoles, has built in wireless and just needs more time to mature.

-

Aside from the Wii, the XBOX and PS3 directly compete with one another if you like. The Wii is intended for less serious gamers who are just out for a bit of fun from playing with other people. The XBOX and PS3 are attempting to be media hubs and both are great at it. Best way to look at it is that the PS3's hardware and media playback is an upgrade to that of the XBOX; however the XBOX has been out for 12 months longer and has a better selection of games.

Conclusion? The XBOX is slightly better than the PS3 now, but in about 6-8 months the PS3 will become the better console. The Wii itself is a great little machine but not directly competiting. I know alot of people who have a Wii AND a XBOX or PS3.
