I have a 2.i in Philosophy and Classics from The University of Sheffield and I am finding it increasingly difficult to find work... I am in my late twenties, any one have any ideas?

What do you want to do? What experience do you have?

I have experience in catering, hospitality, stewarding, telesales and just about every other national minimum wage job there is - i am looking to do PR or customer service (not catering or hospitality) or preferably something ethics orientated. I have always been good with people and at communicating.

What about working in a public service, using your skills in helping people? Perhaps you could get involved with something like this http://www.sheffield-cathedral.co.uk/links.asp?articleID=50 and find out if you enjoy this type of work.

There's a great need for empathic people to work with vulnerable people, it can be really rewarding, and it helps if you are a good communicator. Doing something on a voluntary basis would give you the experience to back up your degree, and perhaps give you the opening you need.

Did you specialise in any area of philosophy? - that may help you decide where to target your work search.

The Prospects website - www.prospects.ac.uk - has a section which gives ideas for jobs relevant to degree subjects, might give you some inspiration!
