Heard Tomsk making his usual 'Im waking up' grunts and squeeks yesterday evening so figured I'd get his medicine ready for him (antibiotics for a cut on foot).

Opened up the cage and it would appear those weren't his usual waking up noises but his terminal going to sleep noises :(

Only Lister left now of these 3 little chaps, but he seems perfectly healthy and lively still. He is also getting much more keen on cuddles with me since his mates have slowed down/died.

Oh Dafoot,

Sorry to hear about Tomsk :( At least you know he had a happy, comfortable life with you.

Hugs and cuddles to Lister x

Aww, really sorry DaFoot :(

He was such a beautiful big boy, I hope his brother doesn't grieve too hard for him. Sleep well Tomsk

I suspect Lister will become more needy of playtime now... he'll be fine so long as he gets his treats and is allowed to continue his kleptomania! :hihi:

Are they easily bonded with newcomers? Perhaps it'd be a good idea to get him a companion? I have heard that they can become quite ill without the company of another of their own species. :(

It's not the best way to keep them (individually) and other could be introduced with a bit of time/effort.

Though I made a decision a few months back that when the current pets go I wont be getting any more for a little while (financial thing :( ).

Already promised the cage to someone here (though forgotton who now! :( )

They can be expensive little things can't they

I'm sure he'll be okay with lots of snuggles from you, it's not ideal but I completely understand that decision, it's the same one I've come to when these girlies leave me. No more for a while, a £200 vet bill in November before Christmas was rather painful finacially and emotionally and the heartache when they leave is so hard

I did wonder if you'd made the decision not to have any more for a while, DaFoot. Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude :(

In that case, I'm sure he'll be more than happy with lots of cuddles and human attention!

No problem... I'm pretty open about stuff :)

In that case, I'm sure he'll be more than happy with lots of cuddles and human attention!
Aye... doubt I'll ever have one like my first rattie though. He would go everywhere with me :D

Sorry to hear about Tomsk, poor lad. Hope Lister doesnt pine for his buddy and gets lots of fuss and treats now he's the only rattie. We've got an elderly cockatiel and when his time comes to cross the bridge, I don't think we'll be getting another. Much as we love him and he's tolerated the felines over the years, I don't think it would be fair to introduce a newbie who would have to spend all his time in the bathroom (because it's the only space we've got for a large cage). Hugs to Lister. xK
