Hi all,
I've had my guitar for only a few weeks and think i may have killed it opppsss! :help::help:
I'm having problems with the 6th string (e), i know the string is tuned as i have one of those flashing light gadgets! but i have noticed it sounds really dull and distorted it also "feels" loose!
Any ideas/ suggestions...??
Thanks
This sounds like a really silly question, but if the string feels loose are you sure that you have it tuned to the correct octave of E?
I'm sure xircon will be along with more sensible advice (which means I'd better log out and pass him the computer!).

I thought the same thing when it seemed loose, but i have checked it and checked it again
What have i done to it :help:

This is an on-line tuner, if the string sounds similair then its OK. Strings do sound dull after a while, but a couple of weeks isn't long enough really.
Things to check - are the screws in the machine heads (the tuning bit!) tight? sometimes they work loose with the constant vibration
Is it accoustic? if so check that the plugs holding the string are in tightly (lightly tap with the handle of a screw driver or similair).
Replacing the strings is fairly easy and cheap, strings cost £5-£6 a packet or can be bought individualy.
Hope this helps, just woken up and feeling groggy, passing computer back to medusa, so give her a shout if you need more help.

Thank you xircon.
It does sound similar to the online tuner, but still a bit distorted.
So I am now armed with a screwdriver and tightening the screws and it seems to be getting clearer!
I think you may have saved my guitar from an early grave. :hihi:
I can now get on and practice.
Advice kindly appreciated!
