To be honest, the rock scene in sheffield is struggling a little (notice I say "a little") so cant really see people travelling to rotherham unless its for something special.

Then again, as the old saying goes, a change is as good as a rest so who knows.

I dont think people will travel to Rotherham on a Thursday. I dont think one off rock nights work anyway as Rockers (myself included) think that if the venue is not Rock all the time its not worth the bother as someone is just doing it on a quiet night hopeing to make money out of Rockers.

I havn't noticed always seems packed in Dove and Nelson when I go in (apart from NYE) why do you think its struggling?

Me and my OH sometimes go through to Rotherham on Thursdays (just for a change of scenery.) Start off in snaffu (a very good rock/goth bar) and then into the "rock" night in Milano's it was fairly busy but not really what we'd call rock more a dance/rock night

Snaffu is open till quite late anyway, but do let us know how things go, where, when etc. You can never have too much rock

And a lot of the old rock pubs have changed/closed (casbah, sportsman etc)

As I understand it, tonight is the last night at the sportsman - dont know if its getting a new manager or just closing (good luck with the new pub)

And the casbah should never have been changed from the Wap.

As for the old rebels getting new & bigger premises (capitol) look what happened there.

Going way off topic from Rotherham rock nights - but its very easy to get a rose tinted view of the past - the Wap was empty for its last few years...
