Or rather lack thereof.... yeah, why is it that there are next to NO public toilets in town? And the few that there are are so grotty and 'orrible you don't want to go in them even if you're bursting for a pee apart from those at the Town Hall where they charge you 20p for towards the upkeep.

I know it's a bit of a gross subject, but when you're disabled (not wheelchair bound though, despite the opinions of idiot Americans), it's a bit much to trail all the way down the Moor to Debenhams or down Fargate to TJ Hughes or the Co-Op on Snig Hill when you get caught short in the search for a loo.

Think yourself lucky to have public lavs.
This Council is shutting lots more.
They did a big report and found that other cities had even fewer! So rather than set some standards in this department they concocted all sorts of excuses for shutting them -drugggies,cottaging.too costly to repair.etc etc.
They also believe that there are "alternative facilities"such as shops and pubs where you can go if you are bursting.Tell that to an old incontinent lady as she fights her way through a student-packed bar.
It could be something to do with selling off the sites for other uses like the ex-lavs- now- Pantry Cafe outside the Hallamshire Hospital but that's another story.

I know exactly what you mean, I have that same problem and it is not only in this country as we had trouble just the same on holiday on the continent.
