(I'm sure I've seen a thread on this before, but can I find it again? Hey ho.)

Anyway, I'm after a good vet around the Ecclesall/ Whirlow/Beauchief area for our young pooch and aging cat. Any recommendations??

Cheers, Carrie

not particularly your area but Highfields on London Road are excellent - having had a considerable number of health problems with my dog they have always been sympathetic and extremely helpful and I have complete faith in their treatments.

My parents have had problems with Highfields and have moved to a different vets because of them.

They now use a different vets, but as they have only used it once I don't feel like I can recommend it as I don't really know how good it is.

We left Highfield because they kept suggesting we put our kitten down rather that pay to have him investigated and treated. When we took him to see a specialist she said there was no reason he wouldn't make a full recovery. We use Park Veterinary Hospital on Abbeydale Road South now and they're fantastic. They were recommended to us by friends who also left Highfield because they were unhappy.

I know its a little further out, but Hallam vets on crookes is very good

I second the recommendation of Hallam Vets - they also are in Hillsborough but I guess that is even further away. And parking there is, as someone has previously said, "interesting" so I tend to go to Crookes branch unless there is an emergency.

Have been very pleased with:

Abbeymoor Veterinary Centres 11 Abbey Lane
Sheffield South Yorkshire S8 0BJ 0114 274 7605.

Superb, friendly and well-run. My fool dog spent so much time there after an accident he still likes to go in and say hello on the way to the Spa. And I don't think they were outrageously expensive.

Thanks, all, for the recommendations. We've decided to register them at Abbeymoor....
