Hi
Can any one advise if there is a hall in or around the centre of Sheffield which can be hired out for functions etc?

It will need to be licensed for the consumption of alcohol I am presuming as the party wish to provide their own drinks as well as catering.

I have tried searching the 'net but not all websites are very forthcoming with that kind of information :(

Any help or advice would be appreciated

I am sure if the people supply their own drinks and no drink is actually sold on the night within the hall you wont require a licence. the licence is to sell drinks if you are not selling drinks then bobs your uncle

Hi
I would have thought that even so the premises would need to be licensed for the consumption of alcohol as opposed to being licensed for the sale of.

Am I just seeing a problem where there isn't one? :)

If you get a landlord in to provide a bar at any public hall they can get an occasional licence just for that day.

The people wishing to hold the party want to provide their own alcohol as opposed to getting someone in to sell it which is the problem I am up against :(

if that is the case you dont require to have a licence you are only having a party it is only the same as having a party in your own home providing the people who are holding the party dont intend to sell the drinks they provide

Yeah? I thought it might have to be licensed for the consumption, just like some "Bring Your Own" restaurants etc. are.

BYO RESTAURANTS have not got a icence to sell but they can let people drink there own which is basically the same as what you want to do a quick call to any police station will confirm if this is a fact or not just to be on the safe side. but I honestly believe hat I have stated to be a fact. and also no one as yet contradicted what I state which is a good sign on here always somebody looking to prove someone wrong
