If an Atheist does not like A Muslim, catholic or any other religious service being conducted on his or her street in ear shot.

Can the Atheist close it down based on his beliefs or can the Atheist claim its mental torture under the Human rights act, If that religion moved into his or her street after the atheist lived their ?

An athiest has no more right to close religious groups down than a Muslim has any right to close Christian worship down, or Jews close Hindu worship etc...

I think the more important point is with all the various religious holidays we have... where are the atheist special holidays (the anniversary of the discovery of Evolution etc) ;)

In Norway, the national secular society gained the privelege of broadcasting "There is no God" from loudspeakers in town, when they complained that the Local Mosque had been given unfair dispensation to have a muezzin calling the faithful to prayer and that the churches were free to ring their bells.

They argued that this right (to make a public call) was not equitably granted, and they won their case.

So in some enlightened liberal democracies, there is a sensitivity towards those that either believe there is no god, or simply don't know.

I for one would want to see religion completely decoupled from all affairs of state, education, parliament, etc.

And I for one wouldn't mind setting up a secular call to "no prayer", every afternoon, about 6pm.

Atheists that want rights must be readily identifiable (as an organisation) to begin demanding them however. But there is a strong case to be made for an equitable access to the airwaves, and other media for all belief systems - or none at all.

Muslim faith has a right in the work place to pray.
I think muslims pray 5-6 times a day for ten minutes a time.
and have normal breaks as every one else.

If an Athiest was getting stressed listening to the chants could he not ask to take time out every time they prayed until they stopped, and have normal breaks. No

If a mosque was having pray meeting on your streets as we have seen on the news over the last year in London.
Could an Athiest have them moved on. No . its put up with it or shut up.

Certainly the Human rights Act under the section Mental Torture could possible help the Athiest.

Then what about the satanist. The Royal Navy have excepted these people in the services since Novemebr last year.

Yet an Athiest in the service has no rights yet a satanist worshiper has.

Do you have evidence for this? I was always under the impression that Muslims forfiet their breaks so they can prey.

It doesn't take half an hour to eat lunch does it? And I dunno what the rules are where you work, but where I work I certainly don't need to take a break just to go to the loo.

You said Muslims dont take breaks, are you saying now that muslims who pray also take breaks now?

As for the 30 minutes break. Not heard of that. Do you just have 30 minutes off from work all day and that is it?

It takes me ten minutes to get to cafe another 5-7 to wait in line another 10-15 to eat 10 minutes back to work.

total time i get 45minutes i thought that was national normal time. But then their is no normal time off for lunch.
Then i have heard people getting less time off work dont work much any way

Athiests have exactly the same rights to religious freedom of expression as everyone else - what your actually asking is should they have the right to impose their religious values (or lack thereof) on others to which the answer is of course no as it would be for any other religious group...
