View Full Version : Torchwood 16th January Kry10 04-01-2008, 13:00 Yay, it starts again, so looking forward to the new series, let's hope we don't have to wait too long for the new series of Doctor Who as well. kt530 04-01-2008, 18:23 Good news. Much better than Doctor Who. Jabberwocky 16-01-2008, 22:43 Well? What do you think? I just watched it and Im not sure if I like the idea of Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer appearing. I suppose Ill get used to him eventually though, but on the whole it was`nt half bad. StarSparkle 16-01-2008, 22:49 Well? What do you think? I just watched it and Im not sure if I like the idea of Spike from Buffy the vampire slayer appearing. I suppose Ill get used to him eventually though, but on the whole it was`nt half bad. Ahhhh! So that's who it was! I was racking my brains the entire programme, trying to work out who he was! I knew I knew him from somewhere. I think the character is a fascinating new baddie - hope we get to see more of him. StarSparkle Jabberwocky 16-01-2008, 22:50 Ahhhh! So that's who it was! I was racking my brains the entire programme, trying to work out who he was! I knew I knew him from somewhere. I think the character is a fascinating new baddie - hope we get to see more of him. StarSparkle It was bugging me too at first but then I remembered him with bleached hair and it all came back to me! SpiderPete 16-01-2008, 23:11 I quite liked tonights episode, yes nice to see Spike from Buffy in, good episode. Next weeks looks well good, cannot wait, :) Jabberwocky 16-01-2008, 23:13 I want to know if cpt Jack really IS the face of Bo. Call me immature but I wish theyd cut back on the snogging and get on with the slaughtering. pattricia 16-01-2008, 23:16 Yay, it starts again, so looking forward to the new series, let's hope we don't have to wait too long for the new series of Doctor Who as well. Dam forgot it was on.Will it be repeated ? Jabberwocky 16-01-2008, 23:20 Dam forgot it was on.Will it be repeated ? I assume itll be on BBC3 sometime in the week. pattricia 16-01-2008, 23:21 I assume itll be on BBC3 sometime in the week. Thanks I will look it up.:) Powerage 16-01-2008, 23:22 Dam forgot it was on.Will it be repeated ? Its on BBC 3 at 11.30 pm I forgot to watch it so will be watching even though its late as dont want to miss it:) Kry10 16-01-2008, 23:28 Absolutely brilliant, I will be hooked yet again, so, brilliant week now, Stargate Atlantis on tuesdays, torchwood on wednesdays and Journey on thursday, oh, bliss. Deavon 17-01-2008, 03:01 Dam forgot it was on.Will it be repeated ? Download BBCi player to watch it any time you like. Not as fond of Torchwood as Dr Who, but have to hand it to Russell T Davies for having good stories. (Also good to see gay characters where being gay is not the story - just a natural part of them). nick2 17-01-2008, 11:39 Call me immature but I wish theyd cut back on the snogging and get on with the slaughtering. I got the impression the BBC are trying to be edgy and controversial but a) they are 10 years too late, b) it's getting in the way of the plot BasilRathbon 17-01-2008, 12:02 I was going to watch this but my Daily Mail TV guide warned me there was a big gay snog in this episode. What kind of disgusting behaviour is this to show our children? Why can't we see civilised family entertainment like people shooting and stabbing each other instead! Grim Reaper 17-01-2008, 12:17 I really enjoyed it as I missed some of the first series. James Masters will always play a decent villan. Lets hope they are all as good. :D KATIEB_23 17-01-2008, 13:29 Oh no I missed it! according to Radio times it's not on again until next wednesday, which I assume is the next episode :( Powerage 17-01-2008, 14:16 Really good as usual but I did get a bit fed up with the snogging not particularly because it was gay but I dont see why its necessary to the story line. Plain Talker 17-01-2008, 14:55 Really good as usual but I did get a bit fed up with the snogging not particularly because it was gay but I dont see why its necessary to the story line. I didn't quite get why James Marsters' character "snogging" Gwen "knocked her out" and yet it didn't knock out Capt. Jack or anyone else. StarSparkle 17-01-2008, 15:09 Really good as usual but I did get a bit fed up with the snogging not particularly because it was gay but I dont see why its necessary to the story line. I agree. All the uneccessary snogging in "Torchwood" really spoils it, imo. It really annoyed me in the first series cos it kept disrupting the storyline and often seemed very forced, like it was only happening because Russell T Davies said it was, never mind what made sense with the characters and storyline. It really felt like he was pushing a social agenda. Some of the stories were so good, though, it was worth putting up with the jarring caused - but I hope he's not going to carry it on into this second series. It does spoil the programme, in my view. StarSparkle PS Plain Talker - when he kissed Gwen he'd put poison on his mouth first. Not sure whether he was immune to the poison himself, or whether he'd got a barrier of some sort between his mouth and the poison. There was a similar scene in "Firefly" where Captain Mal was poisoned by his 'wife' Plain Talker 17-01-2008, 17:38 <snipped>Plain Talker - when he kissed Gwen he'd put poison on his mouth first. Not sure whether he was immune to the poison himself, or whether he'd got a barrier of some sort between his mouth and the poison. There was a similar scene in "Firefly" where Captain Mal was poisoned by his 'wife' ah, right, that sort of explains it, -ish! I didn't see him take any poison into his mouth, I just saw him kiss Gwen, when they got into the shipping container where they'd located the canister John was searching for. Then, wham, there she was, on the floor, paralysed, like she'd been hit by curare or something. I just thought it was a bit odd, that Capt Jack had warned Gwen not to let Capt John kiss her, yet he was kissing all and sundry, like it was going out of fashion. (and with no ill-effects on them) Jabberwocky 17-01-2008, 17:41 Does anyone remember the last wods that Spike uttered before he went into the divide/ timeslip thing at the end? As he said it my other half spoke so I missed it. kt530 17-01-2008, 17:51 What I want to know is where was Torchwood De-Classified? I was expecting it to be on BBC3 after the main programme. This 'making of' programme, at 45 minutes, was often better than the actual programme! UrbanCaveman 17-01-2008, 17:52 Does anyone remember the last wods that Spike uttered before he went into the divide/ timeslip thing at the end? As he said it my other half spoke so I missed it. He said something like 'I've met Grey' or 'Grey's still alive' I'll find out later! StarSparkle 17-01-2008, 18:07 He said something like 'I've met Grey' or 'Grey's still alive' I'll find out later! Or "I've found Grey...." - something along those lines. I assumed it would mean something to a hard-core Torchwood fan, possibly? It's perhaps someone Captain Jack has talked about in the past? The mention of the name obviously brought Jack up sharp, so this 'Grey' must be someone important in his history StarSparkle Jabberwocky 17-01-2008, 18:09 I could have sworn he said `Ive found your grave`. Its been driving me crackers all day. Kry10 17-01-2008, 18:11 Right, first things first, for those who mentioned about the gay kissing being unsuitable for kids, well, it is on after the watershed and kids are not supposed to be up watching it at that time anyways, secondly, they are re-editing it and showing it at an earlier time next wednesday for the kids to watch, the time being 7pm, which leads me onto my other point, torchwood de-classified is on straight after the cut down version with the new episode shown at the usual 9pm slot, so, I hope that answers some questions. Oh, and as regards the Grey issue, it might be his father, of whom we know nothing, but, we shall see. StarSparkle 17-01-2008, 18:19 I could have sworn he said `Ive found your grave`. Its been driving me crackers all day. That's an interesting thought to ponder... but then, that would seem to go against what happened in the episode, cos earlier on John seemed totally convinced that Jack was dead - and wouldn't he have questioned this much more if he'd found a grave that was supposedly Jack's somewhere else in the universe? Oh dear, I've got too much spare time on my hands today... :P :) StarSparkle SpiderPete 17-01-2008, 18:22 Well I am downloading the episode now, so shall go to the end bit and see what he said. I couldnt quite make out what he said either. KJ_VENOM 17-01-2008, 18:26 I missed the repeat on bbc3 (or whatever channel) so watched it on bbci player with my OH she seemed impressed with the quote "2 gorgeous guys snoggin'" she spent the rest of last night and today watching the first series on alluc.org Edit: i saw this thread last night before watching but didnt come look in case of spoilers lol Plain Talker 17-01-2008, 18:58 I'm sure he said "I've found Grace" (might have been "grey's") StarSparkle 17-01-2008, 19:01 I'm sure he said "I've found Grace" (might have been "grey's") Ahh, yes! Now you mention it, PT, that was what I thought he said at the time. Grace. Well remembered StarSparkle SpiderPete 17-01-2008, 19:04 Just played the end bit with volume on full blast so I could hear, and he did say: "I`ve found grey" or "I`ve found gray" KJ_VENOM 17-01-2008, 19:05 but then theres the flash of a large hand and a small hand parting after james marsters speaks Plain Talker 17-01-2008, 19:07 Gwen then approaches from behind Capt Jack and says "who's Gray/ Grace" and Capt Jack "flannels" her a bit, and says something like "Oh, oh, it's nothing!" Mathom 18-01-2008, 08:38 I thought it was awesome! I laugh at the naysayers, they're probably into American sci-fi, but I love Brit-fi, I find all the references more relevant. And I love the irony in it too. The only American sci-fi I ever got that from was Firefly and X Files. That's why I love Doctor Who and Torchwood. Stuffed full of irony and postmodern metareferences. Like the Star Wars joke in Wednesday's episode... And that Puffer Fish and Old Lady thing - a bit like the Come To Daddy video kind of humour. The new Captain John is great too, with his Adam Ant style of dress. All the sexual tension stuff is fine too. You even get that in Doctor Who now. I think it lifts it all right out of that 'geeky' asexual category where sci-fi is just about monsters and machines and machismo. There might be a lot of 'comic book guys' out there who've never had a snog and find it annoying when they could be looking at another gadget but even Time Agents (especially Omnisexual ones) snog ;) nick2 18-01-2008, 09:41 I think he said "I feel gay" Swan_Vesta 18-01-2008, 09:54 I could have sworn he said `Ive found your grave`. Its been driving me crackers all day. Now I always thought that Capn Jack was the face of Bo ...... Or have I made a grave error. I'll tell you this though, They're at it like knives in Cardiff. I'm surprised they find time to hunt aliens with all the scuttling going on :D StarSparkle 18-01-2008, 12:57 Now I always thought that Capn Jack was the face of Bo ...... Or have I made a grave error. I'll tell you this though, They're at it like knives in Cardiff. I'm surprised they find time to hunt aliens with all the scuttling going on :D Ha, ha, yes! It must be something in the water supply... :D A bit of snogging here and there is fine in sci-fi - but really, it's just getting silly in "Torchwood". You spend time guessing who's going to be thrown together next in the least-likely-in-the-real-world coupling. Grump, grump, grump.... :P Traditional Dr Who fan.... grump, grump, grump :hihi: StarSparkle UrbanCaveman 18-01-2008, 13:01 Ha, ha, yes! I'd be at it like rabbits too :D StarSparkle 18-01-2008, 13:03 We're all just jealous! I'd love to be that gorgeous and only work with gorgeous people! I'd be at it like rabbits too :D Um, it's fiction, darling.... :suspect: :P StarSparkle UrbanCaveman 18-01-2008, 13:03 Um, it's fiction, darling.... :suspect: :P StarSparkle Most eye candy is! neeeeeeeeeek 19-01-2008, 11:03 Watched it on watch again last night, what a load of garbage! Mathom 19-01-2008, 11:54 All the sex going on in Torchwood makes me laugh though. They conjoured up Captain Jack and he sent people wild so they created this spin-off and had him right at the centre of it, together with spadeloads of sexual tension. It's just like Slash Fiction on screen! :hihi: I have to wonder who it is on the Doctor Who team who has the dirty secret of visiting websites that deal in lurid fan-fiction tales of the Doctor having it away with his assistants! Because you can't half tell someone does just that, with these storylines! :o KJ_VENOM 21-01-2008, 07:57 Whatever is said about the "scuttling" and all that don't you think that Gwen's accent is gorgeous :love::love: I Don't mind who Capt. Jack gets off with any week but i think they should bring in a long haired Yorkshire guy to have a steamy clinch with gorgeous Gwen :D Swan_Vesta 21-01-2008, 09:06 Whatever is said about the "scuttling" and all that don't you think that Gwen's accent is gorgeous :love::love: I agree ...... I've often remarked that Japanese women are the most stunning in the world but the Welsh have the most beautiful, attractive lilt to their voices - Now if only I could find a Japanese woman from Swansea I'm all set :D KJ_VENOM 21-01-2008, 09:24 I agree ...... I've often remarked that Japanese women are the most stunning in the world but the Welsh have the most beautiful, attractive lilt to their voices - Now if only I could find a Japanese woman from Swansea I'm all set :D Theres one in Cardiff 9 months of the year  JoeP 23-01-2008, 22:19 Just watched tonight's episode - it was pretty good, actually. There were a couple of scenes reminiscent of the very old Dr Who episode 'Spearhead from Space' - Jon Pertwee and plastic dummies stepping out of shop windows and blasting people - only with Terminator style arm attachments. Cool..... And the bit where the fellow turns up on the doorstep to bump off the Council Leader (no comments, please!!) - I have to admit that I expected the alien sleeper to say 'Sarah Connor?' But it was a goodie - one of the best Torchwoods to date, IMO. Jabberwocky 23-01-2008, 22:27 DAMN I missed it! I KNEW there was something I wanted to watch! Mathom 23-01-2008, 22:57 Oh yes, that one was full of T2 type things! It scared me actually because my dad reckons aliens are 'amongst us'... :o :help: JoeP 23-01-2008, 23:05 Oh yes, that one was full of T2 type things! It scared me actually because my dad reckons aliens are 'amongst us'... :o :help: Ohhh...and the 'They're already here' quote - straight out of the Deep Space Nine episode 'The Adversary'. julado 25-01-2008, 11:07 Oh yes, that one was full of T2 type things! It scared me actually because my dad reckons aliens are 'amongst us'... :o :help: Not only that....I am certain that some of them post on this forum :hihi: Jabberwocky 25-01-2008, 11:12 I managed to watch it last night. Yeah, it was ok, but there does seem to be a bit of copying of ideas on TV now, the Torchwood thing was like the Terminator 2 thing and that... Primeval? Series thats on went all Jurassic park when I saw it last, Velociraptors chasing people around stainless steel rooms, leaping onto tables etc. bobsyouruncle 25-01-2008, 19:15 I didn't quite get why James Marsters' character "snogging" Gwen "knocked her out" and yet it didn't knock out Capt. Jack or anyone else. "Paralysing lip gloss", thats what he used on Gwen. Got it saved on the V-Box in the bedroom,,just been to check to verify!!:D SpiderPete 13-02-2008, 22:12 Wow, wasnt tonights episode "Adam" really good. WallBuilder 14-02-2008, 00:24 I thoroughly enjoyed it but I am a bit of a sci-fi fan however it did make me wonder how long it'll be before Jack's little brother puts in an appearance. KJ_VENOM 14-02-2008, 01:34 Awesome! just seen episode "Adam". Now we know who Grey is. But will Jack remember if and when Grey makes his appearance? Jon 14-02-2008, 02:29 measuring tapes :D classic bettyboop688 15-02-2008, 13:37 :love:What a programme, love it. did anyone watch next weeks episode on BBC3. won't spoil it but wow, cant wait to watch it again next week. love DW too can't wait for new series. beddoe79 15-02-2008, 22:55 Saw next weeks on BBC HD - can't believe it but won't spoil it. Looking forward to the next one though. HD makes cardiff look god lol, don't remember it looking like that when I lived in Swansea. lol. bobsyouruncle 16-02-2008, 20:25 Hmm, cant believe it that they had next weeks episode (6) on bbc 3, (after this weeks, ep. 5 on beeb 2) and that next wednesdays episode on beeb 2 is a repeat of the one on beeb 3 (ep.6) when I thought it would have been a new episode?? seems like they have switched the new episodes onto beeb 3 from beeb 2 for some reason??? Kry10 03-03-2008, 08:08 Well, really enjoying this season, Owen makes a good dead guy, nice to see that they have considered all the downsides of being dead, like no digestion, no erectile functionality, no sleep, and as owen says, those are his three favourite things. |
