I lost my internet connections at home and at work yesterday. Both are via BT Broadband connections, although through different ISPs - although the BT phones worked at both locations. Was BT Broadband down yesterday (did the wind blow it over?) - or was I just having a run of cyber bad luck?

I lost Wannado yesterday, when I rang they said their servers were down. Seems strange that BT were down too.

So we both had bad luck or are we staring Internet Armageddon in the face?

BT fault on the RAS in Manchester, so not ISP specific.

Shame someone had to hang on the phone for half an hour to be told that!

When I called Plusnet went straight through to a recording saying there was a major outage, so I just went and did something else.

Seems OK now.

BT Business Broadband was OK, Mr H.

I think I scared BT the last time I suffered an outage, so they probably ran a length of string and two tin cans just for The Towers... :)

Saturday morning we lost our AOHELL connection and we didn't get it back until tea time today.

It was just a problem for users with a BT connection (apparently).
Did any other AOHELL customers have this problem?.

Apparently the server went down?. I mean, how long does it take to replace/repair a server?
Could they not just switch to another one?
One of the biggest ISP's in the world and they keep you waiting this long! .

There was a problem and the whole of the North West region was down. This then led to an overload on the remaining system. (apparantly).

I've lost my connection a couple of times lately but Saturday was the worst.

Wannado was down all day saturday, thier recorded message said simalar things we are working to resolve this with B.T. did'nt do much for my ebay auctions  and the numbskull at tech support who I rang first (thinking it was my P.C) would have had me un and reinstalling software before she botherd to tell me the network was down. I have made a pledge never to ring wannado tech support again my 9 year old is probably more up to date on all matters P.C than they are

I tried for two sodding hours to get through to the BT help line only to be bluddie cut off, and no connection until Sunday morning.

To anyone who is interested it's easier to ring BT known problems line which can be found at 0800 169 0199 and follow the prompts to the recorded message.

Well whatever is floating around on the internet my laptop died last night, Norton AV didn't pick it up and when I try to scan I get to about half way then Internet Explorer goes manic and multiple pages (in their thousands) pop up on my screen quicker than I can close them.. As a last resort my evening may be spent re-building my laptop :gag:

Try installing AVG (it's free) and having that do a scan. I abandonned Norton and moved to AVG a bit back and I haven't had a simgle problem since. Also, switching to Firefox will help reduce your chances of getting a virus in the first place.

PlusNet was down for me last night, but then again it was technically this morning (around 1.30am). Seems to be ok since 9ish though. Anyone else notice that? :suspect:

It might be the same number but I rang, was told by an IVR that I could leave my name and number and I wquld be called back in under an hour and I was!! Very impressed.

Working in networks I see unexplained overload problems all the time so I couldnt get too angry - part of the territory.
