Hi all,

I've got a Samsung E820 which has worked well for the past 3 months but has now developed a strange fault.

When the SIM card is inserted, the phone turns on alright, but switches itself off after a few seconds. If it's turned on with no SIM inserted, then it stays on with no problem (other than not containing a SIM card of course!).

Has anyone got the slightest idea of what may be wrong with it and how I could fix it please?

Thanks in advance,
James

I am not a phone expert, but have you tried it with a different battery?

When the SIM is present teh first thing it will do is try and establish connection to teh network, which will take more power than if the phone's electronics are just running along quietly.

If the battery is flakey in any way the attempt to connect might drain more power than is available and so turn the phone off.

Just a wild, hairy arsed, guess... :)

If you havent had any water in it and can honestly say that the fault didnt develop due to negligence Samsung will repair it free under the 12 months manufacturers' warranty. Give them a call on 08702 420303.

PS you will need the receipt for the repair to be carried out under warranty.
